Hi, I just got home from a couple days away, so sorry for the delay in responding. Where in IL did your Sabra Norman and her husband move? I don't recognize her name since I know none of my Fanny Norman's ancestors or siblings. Fanny moved with her husband, Josiah Green, to the Christian/Montgomery Co. area of IL around 1850. Many of the descendents are still in that part of the state. Thanks for the help. It seems "Fanny" was a popular name in the Norman family. Mine is bound to turn up one of these days. The organization, open to everyone, especially welcomes descendants of the pioneer families who settled in the early 1800s in the hills and the hollows where Lincoln, Bedford, Marshall and Moore counties come together. Goals of the group include surname research; sharing of the family facts, stories, and photographs; and preservation and restoration of family cemeteries that are in disrepair or have been abandoned. For information about becoming a member or for a registration form for the 2003 reunion, please go to www.chestnutridgecousins.org. We hope to see you in October.

You can transfer those numbers to a Census Extraction Form, to see the sex and ages of those persons enumerated within the household. If you don't have a Census Extraction Form, you can download one from this site (look for Census Extraction Forms within the Search>Census section)--all years are provided. You just plug the numbers into the form, working from left to right--males are to the left of the "-" and females to the right. Sometimes you will see several "-"'s in the string of numbers, which indicate not only a break between males and females, but also breaks between male slaves and female slaves. Hi Phillip, Cool! Perhaps we are connected. When were your Greens and Normans in Maury Co.? My Josiah Green married Fanny Norman in Maury Co. in 1823. They were both supposedly born in TN in 1801. It's like they were space aliens just dropped into TN. I can't find anything about either of them regarding their siblings or ancestors. There are other Green and Norman families there. I just can't find these particular grandparents and where they fit. Do you happen to have any information on them? They had five children - John Newton (b. 1824), Eliza, William, Josiah S., and George. I know that they and at least part of their children migrated to IL around 1850. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? Who are your Greens and Normans? I hope we can help each other. Since these families were both in the same area, there very well could be a connection. Thank you so much for the message. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 14, 2003 1:05 PM Subject: [TNMAURY-L] Re: TNMAURY-D Digest V03 #131 In a message dated 8/14/2003 5:02:55 AM Central Standard Time, [email protected] writes: > > X-Message: #2 > Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2003 12:45:24 -0400 > From: "Sandy VanWiggeren" <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Message-ID: <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [TNMAURY-L] 1830 census lookup > Content-Type: text/plain; > charset="iso-8859-1" > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > > Hi, > > For what it's worth, I've found that if you go to the top of the particular > ancestry.com census page and go to the next page you can often find the name > for which you're looking.
