    1. [TNMARSHA] JONES Family, mid/late 1800's; northern Marshall Co

    3. I would appreciate any info re JONES families who lived in the some part of the northern half of Marshall Co, mid to late 1800's. A number of different Jones families lived there, and I can't determine which one the following man came from. JOHN J. JONES, born probably about 1840, married 7 Oct 1867 (license issued in Marshall Co) to Mary M. Allen (b. 19 Aug 1841; d. pre-1890), daughter of Grant Iverson & Nancy E. Allen of Caney Spring. They had at least one son, Walter M. Jones. I haven't found John J. & Mary M. Jones in the 1870 nor 1880 censuses, so I don't know where they may have lived. It is possible that they lived at some time in the 1870's at "the Wallace place" (probably owned by E. M. Wallace) near Caney Spring. The son, Walter M. Jones married in Marshall Co, 21 September 1891 to Eugenia Caladony (Lula) Ewing from Berlin (born 1869, died 1922, buried at Andrews-Liggett Cemetery). Eugenia Caladony (Lula) Ewing was a daughter of Argyle Asa & Alberta Graham Ewing, and a niece of Eugenia Ewing Allen (wife of William G. Allen who was an uncle of Walter M. Jones) and Mary Fredonia Ewing Allen (wife of Thomas A. Allen who was an uncle of Walter M. Jones). This John J. Jones may have been the John J. Jones who was in Co H, 41st TN Infantry, and 2nd Co I, 35th TN Infantry; wounded & captured at Richmond KY, 30 Oct 1862; imprisoned at Alton IL, transferred to City Point VA for exchange.
