Hi Everyone! I'm looking for a family by the last name of TILLMON/TILLMAN. (spelled both ways) Samuel Taylor TILLMAN- born 1798 in Chatham County, NC. He married Martha PERRY before 1822 probably in Chatham County, NC. Martha must have died about 1832 because Samuel then married Martha's sister Mary Carter PERRY in 1833. Samuel and his first wife Martha supposedly moved to Coffee County, TN and had their first child in 1822. I cannot find this to be true however, since Coffee County was not formed until 1831? Between the two marriages, 14 children were born. Most list a different county in TN that they were born in, however in all my research, I haven't pin pointed them in one county in TN yet! Okay.....to sum it up....Samuel Taylor Tillman b 1798 in NC, d 1864 in MO His children were: Robert Wesley (went by R.W.) Tillman b-1822 in TN *my g,g,great grandfather* Louisa Gida Tillman, b 1825 in TN John Calvin Tillman, b 1826 in TN Newton Jasper Tillman, b 1832 in TN Margaret Tillman, b 1834 in TN Oran Mentor Tillman, b 1835 in TN Samuel Andrew Jackson Tillman, b 1837 in TN Stanley D. Tillman, b 1839 in TN Martha W. Tillman, b 1841 in TN Caroline Tillman, b 1843 in TN Parlee Tillman, b 1845 in TN Joseph Albert Madison Tillman, b 1848 in TN Lucy Taylor Tillman, b 1850 in TN Louisianna or Missouri Tillman, b 1851 in MO Some of the counties mentioned in the family history are Coffee County, McNairy County, Bedford County, Manchester County, Marshall County, Hardeman County. Samuel moved to Greene County, MO in 1850...bought land there and is said to have turned around and came back to TN for 7 or 8 more years?? He was a Justice of the Peace in both TN and MO. He supposedly owned a Mill Pond on a river in Bedford County, TN. However, like I mentioned earlier, I cannot pin-point this family at all in TN. In all these peoples in their later lives supplied information for the census taker, they all did mention Tennessee as their birth place......so I guess I need to look harder :) If any of this sounds familiar, please e-mail me. I'm anxious to locate [email protected]# :) Pam Tillman-Goff >>
