The following is from a mss published in 1978 by Prof. Richard Darden Bourne (deceased) of Vanderbilt Univ. Prof. Bourne was part of my Marshall line. "Tennessee Emily Hayes was the daughter of ANDERSON SHARP HAYES, born 14 Oct 1791, Va.; died 25 Apr 1857, White Plains, Ala. and MARTHA CYNTHIA BLAIR, born 25 Feb 1795, Tenn.; died 23 Sep 1846, buried in Laws Cemetery, Marshall Co., Tenn., married 15 Jan 1814." "Tennessee Emily was born 9 Jan 1824, Farmington, Tenn., died Nov 1896, Boxley, Tenn." This Tennessee Emily married John Lowry Lee and were the parents of my great-grandmother, Kansas Virginia Lee. She married my great grandfather, William Bullock Marshall. Prof. Bourne adds, "for further information, if desired, a book, "A Short Genealogy of Anderson Sharp Hayes, compiled by David Price, Jr., 1954 Old Hickory Blvd.; Brentwood, Tenn. may be secured." I wrote David Price last September and received a very nice letter from him. His father was the one who did the genealogy work and he died in July 1998. David was not aware that he had published the above mentioned book. I quote from David's letter, "I know nothing of his (Anderson Sharp's) ancestry. Once my dad said Anderson *might* be the son of a William Hayes of Maryland but he had no proof. Anderson Sharp Hayes and Martha Cynthia Blair, in addition to your antecedent, Tennessee Emily, also had a son, James Garrett Hayes, (David Price descends through James Garrett) born 20 (or 29) July 1820, TN; died 26 Oct 1883, TN. who on 1 July 1855 married Tennessee Caroline Adams (born 17 Feb 1837, Bedford Co., TN; died 5 Jun 1904, Marshall County, TN.)" I would truly love to have more info on the Anderson Sharp Hayes familly. Do you know anything of the book mentioned, A Short Genealogy of Anderson Sharp Hayes? Interesting sidenote: my Marshalls of Davidson and Williamson County married back and forth into the Hunter family but I've checked my database and have no James Newton Hunter or a Cynthia Ann. I would not be surprised if we eventually found a connection. There is a Marshall-Hunter Cemetery in Whites Creek, just north of Nashville. Lynda Lee Marshall
