This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Tinsley, Mayberry, Porter Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zhB.2ACI/1157 Message Board Post: I have a rather irregular request for this group. I'm looking for any and all original articles pertaining to the Tennessee Fainting Goat/Myotonic Goat/Stiff Legged/Scare Goat. Much floating around the Internet regarding articles written in 1931, 1916, 1904 etc, however I've not been able to procure copies of them as of yet. Short story: 1880 John Tinsley showed up in Marshall County TN with 3 does & 1 buck - goats who became "stiff" when startled. He Stayed with a Mr. J. M. Porter for a while, then left the county after selling his goats to a Mr. Mayberry. I can direct a little more detail (from off the internet), but I do not want to clog this board up with "ungenealogical" stuff. However, I do not know where else to turn other than my peers who are interested in "history" stuff. I did inquire at one of the fainting goat associations, but they do not have copies. Thank you to any and all of you who might be able to look up this topic for me as I'm about 1300 miles away from TN. Bren bramajas@yahoo.com
