    1. [TNMARSHA] 1840 Marshalls in Marshall County
    2. Vic Cook
    3. In the late 1830s, soon after Marshall County, Tenn., was formed, several of my family, also named Marshall, settled there before moving onto Missouri in the very early 1850s. They show up on both the 1840 and 1850 census for Marshall County. Peter Marshall married Margrett (or Margaret) Short in 1821 in Brunswick County, VA., moved to Tennessee around 1836, I think. His father's name was, I believe, John Marshall and he, apparently, married Elizabeth Jones Wynne in July of 1799 in Virginia. It appears that Elizabeth also moved to Marshall County with her son-in-law Peter and lived in a cabin nearby by herself. John must have died before the extended family moved west. Can you connect to these Marshall's? I'm particularly interested in confirming the John Marshall and Elizabeth Wynne connection and where this John Marshall came from.
