Married Eleanor Purdom. William McClure was one of the first justices for Marshall County. In the history of Marshall County, TN it states that the first County Court as organized on October 3, 1836 in the home of Abner Houston. William McClure is listed as one of the Justices of the Peace, and was also named Chairman; others were Thomas Ross, Willima Wilkes, Peter Williams, Thomas Wilson, Divid McGahey, James Adams, George Cunningham, James V. Ewing, John Fields, Adam Miller, Joseph Cleek, Ephraim Hunter, Asa Holland, James Patterson, Jason Sheffield, Sherwood Dunnigan, and Andrew Laird. To quote: "William McCLURE was declared duly Elected Chairman until the January term of this Court 1837-Thereupon Court adjourned until tomorrow morning nine oclock. Wm. McCLURE Chairman James ADAMS Peter WILLIAMS" Looking for any information at all, including any other children of William McClure, besides his son: William D. McClure, who married Mary Orleana Pillow (my connection). William D. McClure (1830-1893) and Mary Orleana Pillow (1836-1905) are both buried in Cornersville. We know that William D. was a merchant.
