He married Parthenia Isabelle Bateman 19 Oct 1870 in Crittenden County, Kentucky, daughter of John and Ruthy (Payne) Bateman. She was born 1849 in Crittenden County, Kentucky; d. 13 Dec 1875 in Crittenden County, Kentucky. Children are: (1) Christina Etta Tant, b. 25 Jul 1871, m. Isaac VanCrider 15 Sep 1889 Jackson County, Illinois, d. 19 Jun 196; and (2) John Ervan Tant - my ggrandfather, b. 1873 in Kentucky, m. Sarah Elizabeth Griffith 11 Jan 1900 Jackson County, Illinois. Levi is listed in the 1850 US Census of Marshall County, Tennessee, in the household of Letha Wallis (b. abt 1800 North Carolina). He is age 3 and listed as born in Tennessee. Also in the household are Elizabeth Tant (b. abt 1814 North Carolina) and Tena Tant (b. abt 1843 Tennessee). Levy is also listed in the 1870 US Census of Crittenden County, Kentucky in the household of J.W. Bettis (b. abt 1824 Tennessee). He is age 23 and listed as born in Tennessee. Also in the household are J.A. Bettis (b. abt 21 Tennessee), Henry Bettis (b. abt 1858 Kentucky), and Reary Waight (b. abt 1849 Kentucky). Levy is working on a farm.
