I am interested in searching and sharing information on any Rogers/Rodgers in Lincoln County. Several researchers have formed a group specializing in searching these names in the Middle Tennessee Counties with special interest in Marshall County. If you have any Rogers/Rodgers connections I would like to share with you and see if we can perhaps untangle some of these Rogers/Rodgers lines. Please answer to the list but also send me an e-mail at Joycecsp@aol.com. Thank you! Joyce Phillips
List, If any of you have access to the Marshall Co area's cemetery books, I would appreciate a look up for Jean McBride Simmons, the wife of Benjamin Franklin Simmons. The approximate dates for Jean were about 1782 - 1817. She and hubbie were living in the Marshall Co. area at the time of her death. There were other McBrides living in the area related to her but at this time I have not sorted them out. Her unmarried daughters, Sarah Sallie 1815 - 1881 and Margaret 1802 - 1877, might be buried by her. Benjamin moved second wife and family to Texas after Jean's death. Thank you so much. We have a date of 2 Jan 1858, so that means that the children listed with Samuel Norman in the 1860 census were not hers. Makes this even more interesting.

They had 9 children before Jesse died in 1844. We didn't know about a 2nd marriage for Flora. All we have is a deathdate of 9 Nov 1867 taken from a DAR application of one of Flora's granddaughters. This really intrigues me. I'm going to poke around, but right now all of our files are packed in boxes as we prepare for a move. Please keep in touch. Are you also a descendant of Flora? We never have figured out who her parents were, but we haven't given up.

I recently learned of a story regarding Thomas Grant, husband of Sarah Glover Grant, who died in 1838 and is mentioned several times in the Marshall County Court Records between January 1839 and 1841 regarding the settlement of his estate. As the story goes, Thomas was killed by Indians, which may account for the reason his grave has never been identified. If he was killed by Indians, it may have occurred while he was traveling in Marshall County or possibly Maury or Bedford County...possibly another county. My source thought he had read it in the Marshall County Probate Records. But, I have been unsuccessful in finding the entry in any of the records online. Does anyone have access to all the county records and might be of assistance in locating the above mentioned reference? Thanks. Trying to fill in a gap in the Wade's. headstones in Mars Hill cemetery in Cornersville George W. Wade, b. Nov. 16, 1858, d. Sept. 29, 1919 Izabell Wade, b. Jan. 18, 1858, d. June 1, 1923 Janice Wade, b. Jan. 29, 1940, d. Oct. 3, 1975 1920 census Isabelle Wade, Marshall county, TN, ED #103, page 7B Living with son Leroy, 36, daughter Lizzie, 25, and nephew George Cheek. All born in TN Looked in world connect and without confirming, assume Isabelle is Isabelle Cheek. It all fits. Now for my gap. Janice Wade mother, Mary Louise Nix, b. March 28, 1919, d. Dec. 31, 1990. Mary I assume married a Wade, and had daughters, Delores, Rhetta, who married a Shorr in 1964 in CA, and Janice. She then married a SteveDrapchaty (found in Mars Hill cemetery). She is listed in death index as Mary Smith, which fits, because Janice's daughter told me her last name was Smith in 1975, and the dates are right. I am trying to figure out the name of Janice Wade's father. Mary Louise Nix is, I believe, the daughter of Roy N. Nix, b. Aug. 6, 1898, d. Sept. 1985 and Cora M. Nix, born Feb. 20, 1901, d. Oct. 1975. Roy and Cora's headstones are also in Mars Hill and I verified dates with social security death index. Trying to figure out Janice's father's name. Also, Janice's daughters, Carolynn and Katherine were adopted out. They've heard stories that Janice had a baby that was adopted before she had them, which was in 1962 & 1964 in CA. Any and all info is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Lynn

I've been using the Cemeteries of Marshall County, TN, to update my family data. I suspect most of the people (almost all Talleys) buried in the cemetery are relatives of mine. I found a child, Gifford Talley, who was the son of George & Susie E. Talley. Susie E. Talley's grave was also listed. I had her in my data base as Susie E. Sanders born November 13, 1970 and died Aug 11, 1949. I did not have George Talley (at least not this George Talley). Can anyone in Marshall County identify the parents of this George Talley? I would appreciate the help. Gerry
