    1. [TNMARSHA] William & Nancy Swiney/Swinney Burial Site
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Swiney, Swinney, "Sweeny," and all the endless variations Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zhB.2ACI/1108 Message Board Post: Does anyone have access to cemetery records from Marshall County, who could tell me where William and Nancy Swiney/Swinney are buried? They were living in the Farmington area in the 1870s, and had been long time residents of Marshall County. William Swinney's will does not mention his wife, Nancy, so presumably she predeceased him. He died between 1876-August 1877. William was born in North Carolina between 1795-1798, and Nancy was born in Georgia in 1802. William was doing quite well before the war, and at the time of his death, still owned 160 acres in Marshall, and some land in Bedford, so he wouldn't have vanished without a trace. There would have been a headstone. Swiney Hunting is maddening at the best of times. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zhB.2ACI/158.365.1 Message Board Post: I stopped by the Arthur Cem. this afternoon. I expected to find an old hand carved, weathered stone as are many of the stones in this cem., however, the style of the stone indicates that it is fairly "recent". I wish that I had a picture of the stone to show to someone who could date the style of the stone. That would give us a time frame to work with. In the meantime, I spoke with Mr. Sommers who lives next door and is a customer at our store. He told me that a Mr. (Larry?) Oliver oversees the care of the cemetery. I attempted to call him tonight without success so I will send him a note and see what happens.

    3. I do not know who owns the property, but I am sure there would be no problem accessing it. I have Gillums and Emersons buried there and visited the tiny plot 3-4 years ago. My aunt Elaine Tate of Cornersville and a friend of hers have been the only people I know of looking after the cemetery for a long time now. They put up a chain link fence around it several years ago to keep the cows out, and have cleaned it up several times. If they can do all that, I can't imagine anyone would have problems with a visitor paying respects. When I went there, I didn't see a soul. >______________________________ >X-Message: #3 >Date: 23 Mar 2004 07:31:25 -0700 >From: parcarp@lni.net >To: TNMARSHA-L@rootsweb.com >Message-ID: <MFMBM002eXED1R3TC0q000063c7@mfmbm002.myfamilycorp.local> >Subject: [TNMARSHA] Re: Arthur Cemetary >Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII >Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zhB.2ACI/1103.1.1 > >Message Board Post: > >I live in Michigan so it isnt easy for me to get access to it.
