That is an interesting bit of history. I've learned more U.S. history through genealogy than in high school. It's too bad some of these stories didn't make it to our Texas history books. I had visions of the War of Roses being a local vendetta between families. Thanks so very much. Gerry

Furthermore, I DO NOT believe that his father is Elisha. I would come closer to looking for an Edmond or Robert than an Elisha. Also, I never thought that Tabitha's maiden name was Houston. I did the research and was able to prove that it in fact was Doyle. My sincerest appologies if my statement offends anyone. Sincerely, Kena Cheek Smith

The will is Book A, pages 253, 254 & 255. The TSLA microfilm I looked at did not have pp 255 & 256 filmed. I can transcribe the 2 pages that are there if you give me a few days. You might try getting a copy of page 255 from Marshall County, from the original records, as going to TSLA wouldn't help in this instance. Dana HILL

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zhB.2ACI/1118.1.1 Message Board Post: Dear Katherine, As much as I'm trying, I'm having trouble remembering you, but I vividly remember your sister, Jeanie, and your brother, Adrian. You must have been a little younger. I was Jeanie's age and as I recall, we went to school together at Hardison School until your father passed away and your family moved to Shelbyville(?). It's been a few years ago. :-) My name is Bill Massey, but I went by Billy during those years. I stayed in Lewisburg until 1960 when I went to David Lipscomb and then on to Peabody for my Master's. My teaching career in Franklin lasted until 1997 when I took an early retirement. Frankly, I had enjoyed as much of it as I could stand. Ha! Could you give me an update on your family? Also, if they can remember me, I would like to wish them well. I remember when your dad's hospital was situated there on First Avenue. I believe Dr. Brown started practicing there afterwards, but I could be mistaken...it's been so long ago. I also remember Max Harber and the awful burning incident. He was one of my cousin Bobby Massey's best friends growing up. My mother was Evelyn Musgrave and there were many children, so I am related to quite a few people in Marshall County as well as other places. My mother's uncle, Rafe Musgrave, founded the Musgrave Pencil Co. there in Shelbyville, and I believe it is still operated by some of his descendants, the Newlins. Are you connected to any of the old Marshall County families, genealogically? Since I've retired I have pursued that study and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I connect to the Dysart, Looney, Woods, Musgrave, Thomas, Hayes, Stallings, Pack, Pigg, Wilson, Lancaster, Short, Gilliam, Beard, Gant, and many more families. We are distantly related to Dr. Leonard's family through the Piggs. Hope you and your family are doing well. All the best, Bill Massey

I have a number of pictures of my grandfather's hospital on the north side of town, and a really cute picture of my dad with a little boy named Max Harbor. Max was badly burned, but Dad saved his life. Also have reminiscences of my mother about when my father set up practice, and a lot of other stuff. Would any of that sort of thing be of interest?

Your all absolutely fabulous! Second, and what I need, I recieved the following email from someone looking for a Marshall co. Historian. If this is you, or you know her, or know where I could maybe find her, or are able to assist the requester, please let me know. I will be going out of town for a couple of weeks tomorrow, and I wont be able to monitor this board. But my husband will check my email, and let me know if something comes up. The email is as follows: Paulette – I am trying to make contact with Charlene Nicholas, regarding information about Reed-Walker cemetery. She had contacted Ennis Wallace of College Grove and told him she had some pertinent information. She is supposedly a Marshall County Historian. Numerous efforts to contact her have in vain. If you know how to contact her or have access to or know of information on the cemetery, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. We are in the process of planning a historical marker for this site. John Wright JWRIGHT733@cinci.rr.com Thank you everyone! Paulette
