Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zhB.2ACI/1127 Message Board Post: Hello Marshall Co.! I have returned from the great lands of Tennessee, and I have to say that I am not sure Im totally happy to be home! <BG> But got in and have been updating myself on the board here, and wanted to pass a couple of things! First of all, thanks again to all the monitors of the board for keeping up while I was gone. Great Information that I HOPE finds it's way to our site??? Second, Boy, after doing some research for only about 10 years now, I know that I have posted some queries to boards that showed I had what seemed like misinformation, and I have seen some queries that had information that I had facts on. The point is this, we are all working toward the same goals on this board. We all have to work together to bring all of the information that we share to correct facts. If we are patient with our contributors, and remember that we should be grateful for any contributions, then we should be gratious enough to help weed through information for the facts. Some people do not monitor this board on a full time basis, and some just come back after months or years to check for new information. I don't think that any person on this board would intentionally attack anyone else. Sometimes our words are 'heard' through type as frustration, but like I said, we all share the same goals. I hope that all of our contributing persons and their lines of family ! can work together to bring our lines to light for others who may someday join us. Please remember that we share our facts and finds through the goodness of our hearts, and not by having to. If you have come to this board with information to share, with proofs you have slaved to obtain, then know that we are more grateful than you would ever know for your help. I know that due to my financial and my time contraints due to family that I would never be where I am today with my lineage if it were not for wonderful people out there like on this board. We hope all of you continue to be a part of our Marshall site, YOU make it successful, and I look forward to working with everyone. Take care all! Look for the new Marshall site on the TNGenweb soon! Paulette

I have a similar lawsuit that hasn't been found either. It was in KY, and the courthouse burned. If you live in Marshall County, TN, you might try the records that were not classified. A few years ago, the Marshall County Historical Society members were cleaning those records and boxing them up to be kept. I don't know where they are. The court house is small, so they may have been placed in another building. Lawsuits provide a great deal of information. Check the Court Dockets for the period in which the suit was filed. You might get a date for it and go from there. Good luck. G. Hunt

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zhB.2ACI/1125.1.1 Message Board Post: I have been told that this suit was brought by the children of Elizabeth Hendrix Hogan Luna against Peter Luna after Elizabeth's death. I have her death recorded in 1848. Peter died in Feb. 1851. From this I assume the suit would be between 1848 abd 1851. From what I have been told, the suit was brought because the heirs wanted the money Peter recieved from the sale of slaves that were willed to Elizabeth by Edward Hogan, her first husband. I was told that the records were in both Marshall and Warren counties. I have scanned some court records in both counties and have been unable to locate the records. However, I have seen mention of parts of the record transcipts in which refer to the behavior of Peter Luna and how he was found in contemp of court because he struck his own lawyer. I would very much like to read all that is available. Please let me know if you are able to help.

I am posting this quote from you from myfamily.com, dated 16 Mar 2001: "Jeremiah Cheek is my ancestor also. As for Tabitha Houston, it has not been proven that was her surname but it is likely." Now you are saying that you knew that she was a Doyle because of your grandfather's notes. And as for me using the middle name "Lee" for Jeremiah, that was when I had just started out on-line and had read other peoples' postings. I do most of my own research. If you want proof that I was the first one to submit the "proof" that Tabitha was a Doyle, I'll be more than happy to oblige. I think it is a shame and very selfish of you to have withheld the knowledge that you claim to have on our family. It is to be shared. Kena

I think I've asked you than before but I've never seen the proof. You shared the Rev diaries with us but so far I've not seen anything about his ancestors in his papers. Is there more you have that we need to see. I know from your correspondence with Virginia that at one time you both thought that Tabitha was a Houston. We of course now don't believe that, but as far as I know no one has proved beyonf a doubt who her parents were. If there is more information in Rev Cheeks papers I believe that he would want that information shared with the other researchers. Otherwise why would he have taken the time to write it all down and keep a diary. Hugs, Rita

If you had that information about Tabitha, the mother, not the daughter, why didn't you share? I got the information on Tabitha , the mother, by doing a search of cemetery records. I did not get it from Ansearchin News, nor from Rev. Cheek's notes. The records you have from your grandfather have been invaluable, but not all the information I have came from his notes. Rev. Cheek only mentions the relationship between Tabitha, the daughter of Jeremiah and Tabitha Doyle Cheek, to the Price family. It does not mention Tabitha the elder's relationship to the Prices' , unless you did not share that with us. Either way , it is a mute point. We now know she was a Doyle. Sincerely, Kena
