    1. [TNMARSHA] Genealogy Utilities
    2. Lynda Marshall
    3. Hi all, Thought this might be of interest, especially if you work with a lot of Gedcom files. These are two freeware utilities for genealogists (written by a genealogist). I found them at RKS Software where I purchased my FAX software. One is a Gedcom Analyzer which allows you to open two Gedcoms and compare them. The other is a Gedcom Viewer where you can view in text format OR in the Gedcom format. They are small utilities and load quickly. They are both executable install files. The default install drive is C:\ , however, it allows you to change this to another drive. The analyzer download file is 617 KB. The viewer download file is 469 KB. Here is the URL for RKS: http://st2.yahoo.com/rks/index.html Best, Lynda

    1. [TNMARSHA] JONES Family, mid/late 1800's; northern Marshall Co
    2. Bill Allen
    3. I would appreciate any info re JONES families who lived in the some part of the northern half of Marshall Co, mid to late 1800's. A number of different Jones families lived there, and I can't determine which one the following man came from. JOHN J. JONES, born probably about 1840, married 7 Oct 1867 (license issued in Marshall Co) to Mary M. Allen (b. 19 Aug 1841; d. pre-1890), daughter of Grant Iverson & Nancy E. Allen of Caney Spring. They had at least one son, Walter M. Jones. I haven't found John J. & Mary M. Jones in the 1870 nor 1880 censuses, so I don't know where they may have lived. It is possible that they lived at some time in the 1870's at "the Wallace place" (probably owned by E. M. Wallace) near Caney Spring. The son, Walter M. Jones married in Marshall Co, 21 September 1891 to Eugenia Caladony (Lula) Ewing from Berlin (born 1869, died 1922, buried at Andrews-Liggett Cemetery). Eugenia Caladony (Lula) Ewing was a daughter of Argyle Asa & Alberta Graham Ewing, and a niece of Eugenia Ewing Allen (wife of William G. Allen who was an uncle of Walter M. Jones) and Mary Fredonia Ewing Allen (wife of Thomas A. Allen who was an uncle of Walter M. Jones). This John J. Jones may have been the John J. Jones who was in Co H, 41st TN Infantry, and 2nd Co I, 35th TN Infantry; wounded & captured at Richmond KY, 30 Oct 1862; imprisoned at Alton IL, transferred to City Point VA for exchange. 3. Hi All, You will have to bear with me for another week or so. My life is divided between two houses and I can't find anything! I am in the middle of moving now and will probably be unavailable more often than not. My current server is a long distance call from the new house, so I am having to change my email address also, and until I get my phone lines in I will be checking my mail, but I'm not sure how often. I'll put my new email address on the webpages as soon as I can. If you've sent me anything in the past week to be put online, I promise I will get to it as soon as I can. Till then I'm trying to find the box with the pots and pans! <grin> Karen CC for Marshall County TN Listowner for [email protected] Listowner for [email protected]

    3. Lem, I don't have a birthdate but it would have had to have been in the mid-1840s or earlier because he was in the Conf. Army. His name was George C. Thomas, and he m. Clara Pylant. He had a brother named LaFayette Thomas who went by "Fate" Thomas. I wonder if he could have been an ancestor to the former Sheriff of Davidson County? Thanks, Bill Massey In F. C. & L. 3. Dear Lem, I may be able to help you indirectly. I am searching for info on Jonathan Thomas and Susan Hayes who were m. on 6/4/1828. I don't know where. They had several children including my ggrandmother, Susan Cassandra Thomas who m. William Everette Musgrave, my ggrandfather. She had at least five brothers whos erved in the Confederate Army, two of them killed or dying right after the B. of Stone's River. George C. Thomas must have had a daughter or granddaughter to marry a Hopper because my old family dentist, Charles THOMAS Hopper told my mother once that his grandfather was George Thomas. I don't know whether he was speaking of the brother of Susan C. or his son. Anyway, that's how I'm related to the Thomases and indirectly to the Hoppers. I surely would like some information on Jonathan and Susan Hayes Thomas, however. Thanks again, and good hunting! Bill Massey of Franklin, TN, formerly of Lewisburg, TN In F. C. & L.
