    1. Re: [TNMARSHA] Martha Lowe Gibson Rosson
    2. Hi Ann, As far as I know Martha Lowe Gibson was not married before she married William. I am thinking that her mothers maiden name was probably Lowe. I have not been able to find her parents yet. Here is what I do have on Martha: b. 1793, d. abt 1871 probably in Marshall Co., TN as William died there. Married bef 1815. Children: Elizabeth M. Rosson b. 1828, Thomas Gibson Rosson b. August 13, 1815, William Lowe Rosson b. 1822, Elisha C. Rosson b. 1828, Martha Ann Rosson b. January 10, 1831, Lucinda S. Rosson b. 1827, Joseph G. Rosson b. 1835, David F. Rosson b. 1824, Nathan N. Rosson b. 1825, and Amanda M. Rosson b. 1832. It seems that their children were all born in TN. I have found William and Martha in both Lincoln Co., TN in 1820 and Marshall Co., TN, after that. I know that William was born in Chatham Co., NC. As for Martha I know very little. You must be referring to Mattie Lowe Rosson. Is there anything you can add to what I have told you? I can send you all the information that I have on her descendants if you are interested. Vicki << I am looking for information about Martha Lowe Gibson Rosson, b 16 Feb 1793, I believe in SC, married to William Rosson and died about 1870 in Marshall County, TN. Who were her parents? Was she married to a Mr. Gibson before Wm Rosson and was her maiden name Lowe or Gibson? One of her son's middle name was Lowe as was one of his granddaughters so I believe it is a family name. This lady has been eluding me for a long time and I would appreciate any information anyone might have about her. Thanks, Ann >>

    3. Ron, I don't know if this connects with your Thomas line, but thought I would pass it on... Sarah Frances Tankersley born around 1843 in Tennessee (Marshall County?) married J. I have some information on the Fowler family. Some of them would later move to Sharp Co., AR. I am especially interested in ancestors of my Christopher C. Thomas. The Thomas line has been my "brickwall". I believe that they migrated from Virginia (possibly Mecklenburg County) to Rutherford Co., TN, then on to Marshall County, TN. C.C. would later show up in Sharp County, AR (near Ash Flat) with one of his children (John W. Thomas) He homesteaded land there in April, 1899 using the name CIT C. THOMAS. He is my gg gf. There is a family story about C.C.'s father being killed in the Civil War. His given name is unknown, but it may have also been Christopher, as the knitname was pronounced KIT. Maybe someone out there can shed some light on my Thomas Family. Perhaps place C.C. with his folks as a 13 yr. old child in 1850, or something like that. I am new to this page. Thanks.
