    1. [TNMARSHA] Thomas Family
    2. Ron Estes
    3. In the 1920 Census for Strawberry Township, Izard County, I find the following THOMAS families: Walter Thomas, 36 Dwelling # 117 Docia 36 Marvin 4 Annie 1 *********** Sarah Thomas, 57 Dwelling # 167 Elden 33 Owen 16 Fanny 15 Elsie 18...dau. in law ************ Frank Thomas, 30 Dwelling # 168 Isabella 26 Coy 2 Roy 1 *********** MART THOMAS 25.........son of John listed below Ella (Weaver) 21 Bessie 3 Dwelling # 171 Nellie Lee 1 ********** JOHN (W.) THOMAS 54 TN VA TN Susie (Roberts) 46....d/o Wm. Asbury Roberts Arch 23 John 19 Dwelling # 172 Virgil 15 James 8 ********** John W.Thomas and his son Mart are my relatives. John came to Sharp County in early 1880's with his father Christopher C. Thomas from Marshall Co., TN. Christopher was living with John & Susie Thomas family in 1900 Sharp Co. census. Christopher's wife, Susan Fowler, died in the 1870's in TN. She is related to many of the Fowlers who live in Sharp County. Also in this family group were the Hortons. QUESTION: Why would John Thomas move from Sharp Co. to Izard Co., to live in Strawberry Twp.. in close proximity to the Walter, Sarah & Frank Thomas families if they were not related? Does anyone have any additional information about Walter/Sarah/Frank THOMAS families that they would share? Maybe this all ties together. Ron

    3. My email's are bouncing from your home address. Bill, While we have no pictures of, nor living folks who remember Christopher C. (CC), my mom, and her brothers & sisters all remember their grandfather John Wesley Thomas real well. He was the son of CC. They tell me that the Thomas' (ours too) were real dark with dark hair. Your description of "indian looking" is something heard in my family tradition also. CC's wife, Susan Fowler, died between 1872 and 1880. Around 1882/83 the Fowlers, Hortons and Thomas all moved to Sharp County, Arkansas. I have old CC in the 1900 census in Sharp Co. living with his son John W. By 1920 old CC was no longer counted. I recon he died between 1900-1920, somewhere in northern Arkansas. I can't find his grave, nor his ancestors. I find about everyone else he was around, including your folks, but so far he has eluded all of us. Ron > ----- Original Message ----- > From: B. 3. Charlie & Bill, I have a THOMAS ancestor who fought with Co. D, Starnes-McLemore's 4th TN Calvary. His name was Christopher C. THOMAS. He was born 1833-37 in Virginia. He was the brother-in-law of John N. HORTON and William Robert HORTON. All three of these guys married daughters of James E. FOWLER, whom I have found in Marshall Co.census'. I also found in 1850 Marshall Co census what I think might be your line, the family of John and Susan THOMAS. Listed are a George C. and Isaac A. THOMAS. A Civil War researcher has graciously told me George, Isaac and my Christopher C. THOMAS were all in Co. D. However,as yet I can not find anything on the family of my CC Thomas. Does this name ring any bells? Ron ----- Original Message ----- From: B. It is believed that M.B.'s first name was MEEK, but may have been a nickname. Do the dates fit with your MILIUS? All the best Charlie

    3. It certainly does take time! I am seriously thinking of starting a Genealogists' Anonymous; a 12,000 Step Program -- Because it Takes at Least that Many Ancestors to Satisfy Those of Us Who are Really Hooked!!! Which Mustain does your hubby descend from? I am getting ready to mail the same info to cousin Eula May Hembree Nichols; a descendent of Chloe Mustain Hembree. I wanted to tell her that I have heard from you & let her know we have more cousins! Take care! I need a little time to look over all the reports and get my data together and then I'll send you an e-mail. Tom and I have four sons ranging in age from 14 to 4-1/2, so our days are pretty busy. I try and squeeze as much time out of each day as I can to work on genealogy -- it's my favorite hobby and I'm absolutely hooked by it! TTFN, Karen

    2. Gerald Johnston
    3. Dear Karen; Your Mustain family connects to mine, however, they were over in MO. I had a great-great-grandmother, Mary Jane Dowl Mustain, who married my gg-grandfather, George W. Johnston. Mary Jane had a brother named Thomas Shadrack Mustain, named for your Shadrack, or else they were both named for the same ole' boy from VA. There is a bit of stuff on these folks in Familysearch.com; both in ancestral and Int'l. files. I can send more if you are interested, but it pertains mostly to the MO folks who were born in the 1860s and later. They stayed in MO, and some went to AR, others on west to WA. It actually may be your same Wm. that was Mary Jane's dad too, but I think he must be an uncle, and his son Wm. is b\probably a younger bro of your Shadrack. 3. Ok; Karen; I got my cousin's letter from last week, which has some of the stuff she sent in to Familysearch.com. In it she mentions the following folks: William Allen Mustain, b. 3 Nov 1829, Pittsylvania Co., VA married 16 Aug 1849, Marshall, TN d. bef. 1865/1870, Fair Grove, Greene, MO wife, Ann George, b. 1827, VA d. after 1880, Benton, AR Their children were: Thomas Shadrack Mustain Joseph B. Mustain Tabitha C. Mustain Mary Jane Dowl Mustain (Johnston) Chloe Margaret Mustain (Hembree) John D. Mustain Alfred Mustain Martha "Mattie Mustain (Horn) We have a bunch of relatives. Where do you fit in again? Is Thomas Shadrack your ancestor? I am going to double check what I have in my data-base, with what cousin Eulah Hembree Nichols just sent. Then I can send you a copy. YOU'RE MY COUSIN!!!!! How wonderful to find someone else! Mustain is an unusual name. I do not see it often. I have seen it as Mustin. I will send the other stuff soon. 3. Hi Dani, I don't think so. I am aware that there was a James Y. Caudle (brick layer) in Marshall County at the same time that my ancestor John R. Caudle (farmer) was listed in the census but as of yet I haven't been able to connect them. John R. then moved to Weakley County, TN.
