I have birthdates and marriages for most of Elisha's brothers and sisters if you are interested.

Does anyone own any cemetery books for Marshall County, Tennessee? I'm looking for the burial of MARTHA CLARA PERRY TILLMAN/TILLMON or CLARA MARTHA PERRY TILLMAN/TILLMON who probably died about 1832 or so??? Thank you! Pam
I am trying to connect to her ancestors a Mary (Polly) Brents, b. 1805 (NC?), m. James Clift of Lincoln County, also b. 1805. Thomas Brents (VA/KY/TN), born 9/17/1773 reportedly had a brother Solomon Brents who is said to be found with him in Tennessee (Maury, Lincoln, Rutherford?) until about 1815. Thomas appears to have lived and died near Clifts, in Lincoln (later Marshall) County. Both Brents brothers appeared to have married McWhorters (McWherter), at least one in Williamson County, TN; however, that marriage (Thomas's) did not occur until 1808, three years after my Mary would have been born. Thomas IS reported to have had a daughter Mary, but other researchers have cited a birth date for her consistent with the marriage date, so that Mary would certainly not appear to be the same as mine. I need to identify children of Solomon, and, if necessary, those of two others reported to have also been brothers: Samuel W. (b. and d. KY), and Joshua (b. KY d. AR). If anyone knows of a prior marriage for Thomas, that certainly would be of interest as well. Any related info anyone has would be greatly appreciated. ======================================================= Searching also in Marshall, Lincoln, and Giles Counties -BARTLETT -BECK -BRENTS -BURGESS -CLARK -CLIFT -COCHRAN -DUNCAN -EMERSON -GILLUM -HILLIARD -HOLLAND -JONES -ROGERS -WRIGHT _______________________________________________________ Get 100% FREE Internet Access powered by Excite Visit http://freelane.excite.com/freeisp

I found the following in the "Land Deed Genealogy of Marshall County, Tennessee (1836-1840)" compiled by Timothy & Helen C. Marsh: Book C, page 355 Trustees of the Methodist Church's Deed for 4 acres of land in District No. ? executed to them by HOWARD CALTON (CARLTON) and received in office 18th and recorded 19th March 1840. This indenture made 14th February 1832 between HOWARD CALTON of Marshall County of the one part and JOHN LAVENDER, EZEKIEL HOGUE, SAMUEL WATSON, EDWARD OSTEEN, JAMES B. SCOTT, GEORGE H. ALLEN, JAMES GARRETT, ABSALOM BOSTICK, and WILLIAM HUGHES of the other part, Trustees in Trust, all of Marshall and Bedford County, for the love of the Methodist Episcopal Church have this day given to the Trustees for the use of the Methodist Episcopal Church a tract of land being in said county and adjoining CALTON's tract. This 14th February 1832. Wit: GERARD VAN BUREN, CHARLES LAVENDER and CHARLES LAVENDER. Does anyone know which church this is and if it still exists? Where would it be located? I am looking for any info on Howard Calton/Carlton. Appreciate any help. Linda Bartos [email protected]
