    1. [TNMARSHA] LONG, SIMMONS & William COWDEN - Will 1839
    2. List , I am new to the list so I hope someone can help and I can help some of you. I just read on the Marshall Co. TN Genweb site the will for William COWDEN, dated 1839. It states his property is to be divided among his children, but the children are not listed. Does anyone know who they were? Could one be Martha A. COWDEN who married Joseph E. SIMMONS in 1832 in Marshall Co, and the two took their family to Lamar County, TX about 1845 via Missouri on the 1840 census? Also, Simmons related to Joseph were Sallie 1815 - 1881, Margaret b 1802, and Malinda, d aft 1865 and was married to Alexander LONG. These last 3 sibblings remained in Marshall Co. Any ideas are welcomed and there are many of us on the other end with much information willing to share. Any ideas are welcomed. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zhB.2ACI/591.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: So nice to hear from someone from Lunn's Store Community. My grandmother was Willie May Aldridge Lunn. She was going to marry your father, Henry. They were sitting at the court house steps in Columbia getting ready to get married and he got to thinking about how he didn't have enough money to provide for her and he wanted to postpone the marriage a while and she took it that he didn't want to marry her. I believe they loved each other most of their life. He would come to visit her when they were old and they would laugh about old times. He was a very pleasant man. This was before Henry's and Ida's marriage. I was the second child, Fran. I was born in 1955. My mother was also friends with Ms Ida. She came to our house frequently. After she moved to Lewisburg, mama would go to see her. I live in Belfast, Tennessee. I work at the Lewisburg Tribune/Lewisburg Printing Co. I am married with 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. I visited with Doug Kincaid several years ago and took him a picture that i found in my grandmother's possessions. The picture was of some of his relatives on their wedding day. I don't remember any of Ms. Ida's children, but I was friends with Mary Frances Kincaid which I believe was her granddaughter. Her father was Paul. I also remember Ed Scott. I always thought a lot of him. I would go to his house and ride his ponies. I also remember Maggie and Louella Newcomb and Pleas. Do you have a picture of Henry that you would share online? I can't remember what he looked like. Talk to you later. E-mail me privately if you want to. I tryed to send you an e-mail and it was returned. Fran Lunn Calahan

    1. [TNMARSHA] Marshall Co. Marriages Indexed by Brides
    2. Steve and Judy Sanders
    3. Does anyone know if there is a listing for marriages in Marshall Co. indexed by brides. I know that you can find marriages on microfilm, but they were indexed by grooms. I think there is a marriage book for early Marshall Co. marriages maybe up to abut 1870 or so, that is indexed. I'm interested in Marriages after this date, but just don't know how to go about finding the marriage. I have a female and I only have her maiden name. I'm trying to find if she married or not. She was 25 in 1900 census listed as single, so it would be after that. At the courthouse in Lewisburg, they have marriage books, but still are only indexed by grooms. Is there any source out there that has the brides indexed? Judy Sanders

    1. [TNMARSHA] Hayes Marring A Thomas in Davidson County, Tennessee
    2. Hello Listers, Again, if any one has any information regarding a Susan HAYES of Davidson County, Tennessee, who married a Jonathan THOMAS (possibly from Ireland) on 6/4/1828, please get in contact with me. I have examined state archives records and everything, and remain clueless. I do know that they settled in Marshall County, Tennessee, near the Farmington-Verona-Caney Springs area and spent the remainder of their years there. They are buried near Verona. Susan passed away in 1858, but Jonathan lived on up until 1884. Thanks, William R. Massey, their great great grandson
