But as luck would have it, there is no listing of her. According to the 1870 census, she was married to a william dyer (still unsure of who he was) and they divorced sometime before 1880 as she is shown at that time to be divorced. I know they also lived in Marshall county. There is no listing of these 2 divorcing in lincoln county and I wanted to see if anyone here has access to Marshall county divorce records. also, does anyone know if the Marshall county gazzette is still around? Perhaps there is a mention of her passing in that paper. thanks for any info/help rae

They were; Phebe, who was the wife of John Hooton, Euphemia, who was the wife of Humphrey B. Tomlinson, and Abigail Nichols who was not married as of 1850. The second annual Chestnut Ridge Cousins reunion will be held Friday and Saturday October 3 - 4, 2003, in Petersburg and Fayetteville, TN. The reunion will begin on Friday afternoon at an informal social gathering at Pavilion Park at Morgan School in Petersburg, with a pot-luck picnic supper at 5:30. On Saturday morning, the group will meet at First United Methodist Church in Fayetteville from 9:30 - 12 noon. The program will include a talk on local genealogical research sources by Jack Towry, president of the Lincoln County Genealogical Society, and an account of several of the interrelated families of the Chestnut Ridge area by Al Simmons, president of the Bedford County Historical Society. The afternoon will be free for individual research. At the Saturday night banquet, Dr. Michael Bradley, author of books about the War Between the States and other historical subjects, will tell true stories of the war in the Fayetteville-Lynchburg area. Dr. Bradley, professor of social sciences at Motlow State Community College, is well known for his entertaining story-telling about real people and real events. The banquet will begin at 6:00 p. m. at the Best Western Fayetteville Inn. Reservations are required. Last year's initial meeting of the Chestnut Ridge Cousins association in Shelbyville drew nearly 150 cousins from 11 states. The organization, open to everyone, especially welcomes descendants of the pioneer families who settled in the early 1800s in the hills and the hollows where Lincoln, Bedford, Marshall and Moore counties come together. Goals of the group include surname research; sharing of the family facts, stories, and photographs; and preservation and restoration of family cemeteries that are in disrepair or have been abandoned. For information about becoming a member or for a registration form for the 2003 reunion, please go to www.chestnutridgecousins.org. We hope to see you in October.

Kenny, I have Ollie Hardin Savage in my records, but he is in Bedford county in Savage hollow less than a mile from the Lincoln county line. I don't think he ever lived in Marshall county, He was born in 1876. He and I were 1st cousins one generation removed. John Foster
Could someone with access to the 1920 do a lookup for me. Ollie H Savage page 94 2b. He is listed in the online Marshall county 1920 census Index but doesn't give the district. Would like to find the family members listed with him.
I am searching for info on a Mary Phifer born circa 1838 in Tennessee, maybe Marshall Co. From the 1880 Marshall Co., TN. census (District 14) I have found the following household: Jonas Phifer age 73 born North Carolina Jane Phifer age 68 TN.-wife Mary Phifer-age 42 TN.-daughter Alford L. Phifer- age 25-TN.-son Adaline Phifer-age 20 TN.- daughter I think it was on FamilySearch, I found the following: Jonah Phifer, son of Peter Phifer and Margaret Lawson, born Nov. 28, 1808, died Feb. 18, 1889 married Jincy McGreggor on Sept 17, 1832 in Maury Co., TN. Would this Jonah Phifer be the same as Jonas Phifer in the 1880 Marshall Co., TN. census. Does anyone have information on this family--trying to find info on Mary Phifer, daughter of Jonas. She married my 2nd great grandfather, John C. Hedgecoth, in 1884 in Marshall Co., TN. Judy Sanders
