I am searching for info on a Susan Hyles who married George W. Graham in Marshall Co., TN. February 9, 1873. They had 2 children known of: Alice born circa 1873 and Bruce born circa 1877. Susan Hyles Graham is living with her sister, Sarah Medora Hyles Taylor, in the 1880 Marshall Co., TN. census. Susan is listed as widowed. Nothing known about Susan, Alice, or Bruce Graham after 1880. Judy Sanders

During the time of her sickness her baby that some three or four months old, died also. Mr. MOORE had been married less than two years and had this last fall gone to Tennessee to take charge of a school. He had been there but a short time until his wife and child were taken sick. Mr. S.C. MOORE and wife, of this place, were with their son at the time of the death of his wife. Our people sympathize with the family in their sad bereavement. found a clipping in the Gazette (1911) in searching for my Joel Dyer: "a large crowd from delina attended the funeral of MR. Joel Dyer Sunday. He was a prominent citizen and was a man who had many friends, all of whom are sorry to learn of his death" if this was in the marshall co. gazette, is there any way to find out where he was buried? and where is Delina? Whare may have a funeral had taken place
Dear Group, Looking for any and all information on a Nancy Bullock (or Bulloch?) who m. James Micajah Videret Luna around 1827 or 1828. He was born in 1806 in Sumner County, Tennessee, and died in 1876 in Marshall County, Tennessee. I know very little about her. Would love to know more. Sincerely, William R. (Bill) Massey from Lewisburg/Marshall Co., TN
Would anyone know the communities that were in the 15th and 18th Districts of Marshall County back in the 1880's-90's. and early 1900's? I checked Marshall Co. website, but didn't see any communities listed--perhaps I overlooked it. I checked the 1899 map, but believe I only saw 1 community listed which was Cochran. There was a Yell community, also. I need to know what other communities there were. I plan to check Marshall Co. newspapers for any news of my ancestors, so I need to know what community to check for. Judy Sanders

Surnames: PETTY ~ BAGLEY ~ BAYLESS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zhB.2ACI/1059 Message Board Post: Some people believe Bethany Bagley married Thornton Petty in New Market, AL, on 12/6/1821 which is the same time and place he married Abigail Bayless, the sister of my gggrand-mother and the latter is recorded in the record book. It's the same day my gggrandmother married so I assume they had a double ceremony. How about George Dillard Petty ~ born in NC in 1797 to a Wm Petty just like Thornton was? Isn't this a good possibility? Didn't Bethany's daughter Sarah D. name a son George D. Sanders b. 1859 and didn't Bethany's son, Wm Mathial, name a son Dillard b. 1856? Bethany's 6 children were born from 1820 - 1829 (starting before her supposed marriage to Thornton). After her death didn't George marry Ruth? who bore him 6 children from 1833 - 1851 and who probably raised Bethany's children? She even named her youngest son George D. Petty. I recall that Bethany's father, Joab, went to court to prove himself guardian of some of his grandchildren, but Bethany's were not listed; that's because their dad and his new wife were raising them. Can some of you descendants in Talley Station area enlarge on this information? During the last couple of years I've exchanged thoughts & info with Bobby Prosser and Lynette Petty Lawrie hoping to prove Abigail's husband wasn't keeping a wife and 6 kids in TN as well as her and 6 kids in north AL! Maybe he'll be vindicated, but I still don't know why she had gone back to her parent's home in 1834 and 35 and Thornton was apparently alive, but not in the picture. When his father's will was probated in 1840, Thornton was one of the heirs. Sylvia Wooten Ross
I was wondering if there is a transcription for a Duncan Family Cemetery in Marshall Co.? If so, I'm hoping someone who either has the transcription or who lives near there could look up Nancy Emerson's headstone. It is believed that her married name was Duncan. Thank you so much! Is Thomas GRANT, by chance, listed as one of those who died in Marshall County in late 1838? He has eluded me for almost 25 years! he was married to Sarah Glover, who moved with children to Pontotoc County, MS and later to Robertson County, TX, after Thomas' death. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary-Gene Page" <mgpage@unlimited.net> To: <TNMARSHA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 05, 2003 12:25 PM Subject: Re: [TNMARSHA] marshall county Cemeteries > "Cemetery Records of Marshall County Tennessee" compiled by Marsh and > Whitesell, published by Southern Historical Press, Inc, PO Box 1267, Greenville > SC 29602-1267. There is a publication "Cemetery Records of Marshall County Tennessee" compiled by Helen C. and Timothy R. Marsh and Ralph D. Whitesell, published by the Southern Historical Press, Inc. Greenville SC 1996. (Address PO Box 1267 Greenville SC 29602-1267.) This book is indexed by surname only with a list of pages given on which that surname appears. On the page, nothing is in alphabetical order so you have to search. There are brief directions given to each cemebery. Page 41, HILL Cemetery: Located on Jim Cheek Farm, west of Anes Station. (3 names: E. M. Hill, Francis Hill, G.L. Hill, 2 unmarked graves.) Page 128: HILL Cemetery, Lewisburg: Located off State Highway 50-A, between Mooresville and Lewisburg, near the turn off to Wilson Hill, but on the Silver Creek cut off, about one-half mile from highway, Webb-Globe Road. A Hill family cemetery with others buried there, about half with no identity. Last burial was in 1959; now badly grown up in bushes and trees. Page 115: BOYET-HILL Cemetery: Located two miles from Lewisburg, on Highway 50-A, turn left just past Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Cemetery is behind Odie Poteet's residence (1968).
