    1. [TNMARION] Sweetens/Sweden's Cove

    3. Does anybody know the real history behind the name? As I have family from that area, I've always wanted to know. My Dad said that he always thought it was named after the Sweeten/Sweeton family that lived in that area. Others have said it's actually Sweden's Cove named after the Swedish settlers of the area. As early as 1830, Moses and John Sweeten were living in Marion County. By 1850, there was a Joseph Sweeten living in Dist. 12 -- was that the same area as the current Sweeten's Cove? Thanks, Donna

    2. Mac says he thought it was after the family that settled there and not the people from Sweden. I don't think any one knows for sure, but I am guessing some one started spelling it like it sounded and that is how it got both names. Does any one else have an opinion? ----- Original Message ----- From: Donna O'Brien To: tnmarion@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2008 9:49 AM Subject: [TNMARION] Sweetens/Sweden's Cove Does anybody know the real history behind the name?
