    2. The name of the Primitive Baptist Church is the same as the one in town at the Patton Annex. The one located in Sweetens Cove was started by Samuel McBee, if I remember correctly which also had other churches as well -- one being located in Sand Mountain Ga. On the web site is a picture I took of the one in Sweedens Cove. Which is near the old school . The minutes of the church are published in a book also I believe Jerre Hookey is in possession of the original minutes, or perhaps knows where they are located if not. They are very interesting to say the least. Notice I spelled it both ways above. At one time (1999) at the entrance of the cove one side of the street (road) it was spelled one way on a street sign and the other way on the other side of the street( road ) -- Not sure if it still is this way or not. In 1965 when you mailed a letter to some one that lived there you did spell it Swedens Cove. Hope that clears that up just a wee bit YES we would love to add the picture of the house . Please send it to me at macbetty2@peoplepc.com. As the list will not accept pictures or attachments. Ida, Donna, and Bill Mc and others, What is Sweetens Cove? Is there a church associated with the Patton (Annex) Cemetery in South Pittsburg? I'd like to write there to see if family remains in the area? Thank you so much for sending me your help with the South Pittsburg roots of my wife's Rhodes ancestors. William W. Rhodes and his family stayed there, while Absalom Vernon Rhodes and family moved west to Oklahoma, then Colorado, then Idaho and California. I still want to give my wife (dau. of Joyce Rhodes, g-dau of J.T. (Jack) Rhodes of Canon City, CO) and her family more about their Tennessee Rhodes roots, so if anyone has any more about this family, please write it on your _tnmarion@rootsweb.com_ (mailto:tnmarion@rootsweb.com) site. I want to send our 1880s picture of their house in South Pittsburg with the Rhodes family on the front porch for your website as a thank you! Just tell me where to send it. Thank you! 3. The US Geological Survey says the official name is now Sweetens Cove. It was offically called Swedens Cove prior to 2002 when a "board decision" changed it to Sweetens Cove. Wonder what that was all about. Seems like we had this same discussion a few years ago.
