Dennis, Thank you so much to you and Caroline for looking. I have 3 other names for you. The names of William W.'s and Absolom Vernon Rhodes' parents were Jonathan R. Rhodes and Elizabeth Vernon Rhodes. Absolom was b. 2-5-1838 and was a Civil War veteran when he left South Pittsburg and moved to Oklahoma in the 1880s, so he could have been a member of the church. He could even have been married there. He married Sarah Adeline Carson (b. 9-10-1844), dau. of Andrew J. Carson and Mary C. ___?___. We have a marriage date (March 27, 1864), but no place. The Carsons were from Walker County, Georgia, and were listed at the Eagle Cleft Post Office in the Chattanooga District of Walker County in the 1860 census. So these people may have been members before the construction in 1888. Thank you for anything you find. Frank Sellers Falls Church, VA **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Frank, I'm a little confused. You write of William W. and Absolom as brothers but the census records show William W. to be the son of Absolum. Other info: William's son Robert married Mary Alice Hillard and best I can tell they only had one child that lived to maturity - Mary Ellen born abt. 1921. William's son Robert married Ida L. Thomas and had sons Lawrence Jr., Joseph H., Vernon and Winfred. Lawrence Jrs nickname was Bill so I'm a little uncertain about Lawrence's middle name being Wesley but that's the way he signed his WWI draft registration card. Absolum's father John R.(age 65) and mother Elizabeth (age 50) are still in Walker Co, GA in 1870. I don't see either in 1880.
