    1. Re: [TNMARION] question on marriage
    2. >From a newspaper clipping in Whitwell, I found that my grandparents were married in Grundy County. Actually, the day we found this in the library, we went over there to find the courthouse closed. I then found a license on microfilm from the LDS. It was suggested by a genealogist that I try finding an application for marriage license. Has anybody any experience with finding an application to get a marriage license? I'm not looking it up right now, but probably around 1905. I actually have one of these marriage applications from Pennsylvania and it was two pages long with information. On the death certificate for my grandfather, it said parents unknown, and apparently he was orphaned and on his own when very young which would be somewhere between 1880 and 1890. I've studied census records in about three states for 1880 when he was 8 years old and I haven't found anything that looks like a possibility to be him. Thanks.

    2. Do you know if they could have gone to live with another relative or party as a servant? If so they would have been listed under the head of households name. Have you check out the poorhouse section of the census, there is another name for them besides the poor house, just can't remember right now?? ---. These listing are usually at the back of the regular section of the census-- Have you checked out the orphanages in that area? I am not sure they list the names in the orphanages. ----- Original Message ----- From: wmc2310@ftc-i.net To: tnmarion@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, April 08, 2008 12:59 PM Subject: Re: [TNMARION] question on marriage >From a newspaper clipping in Whitwell, I found that my grandparents were married in Grundy County.
