Jim, I think we had the discussion about his some time ago and I know that some think that Dove is Martin Springs. That may be right but my thinking is that the Martin Springs post office replaced the Dove post office but they weren't necessarily in the same place. The few old maps that I can reference show Dove at the head of the Gizzard cove not at the foot of Monteagle mountain. I think the Martin Springs PO replaced Dove and but wasn't a situation where a post office was just renamed. Regardless of which is correct, the Dove cemetery could be anywhere in the county as it was named after a family not a particular area. Ida - if you go there the lady is looking for the graves of Dave and Susan Coffelt who died 1918 and 1923 respectively . In 1910 they were living near Alford Anderson, John Beene, Newton Payne and Thomas Crow in dist 4 - all familar names but I'm not sure exacly where those folks lived. And there are several Dove familys nearby as well. District 4 is actually some distance northeast of Battle Creek(which would normally be distr 10) but at some point distr 4 was extended and a portion of it was called distr 14 which did include some of the Gizzard side of distr 10. Bill: I think you are correct on this. My G-Grandfather's WWI Reg. Card shows he was born in Dove, Tenn. However, we know that they never lived in Dove, but in Martin Springs. It wasn't until later that Martin Springs was their actual post office, but they had used the Dove P.O. for many years. I also have some Doves married into my Harris line -- they all (Harris & Dove) lived in the Gizzard Cove. Just my 2 cents ;-) Donna bill <wmcconne@bellsouth.net> wrote: Jim, I think we had the discussion about his some time ago and I know that some think that Dove is Martin Springs. I always get Dove, Comfort and Martin Springs mixed up in relation to each other. I think the Alford /Alfred (AKA "Alf") mentioned below was probably my great grandfather, Alfred David Anderson. -----Original Message----- From: tnmarion-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:tnmarion-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of bill Sent: Tuesday, April 15, 2008 4:28 AM To: rebelman42003@yahoo.com; tnmarion@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNMARION] Dove Cemetery Jim, I think we had the discussion about his some time ago and I know that some think that Dove is Martin Springs.
