    1. Henry Holloway Hatfield Family
    2. I am posting this to several list so if you are on more then one, you might get it again. I am looking for researchers that are researching Henry Holloway Hatfield, who married (1) Lucinda Thurman and then (2) Nancy Brown. He was son of Andrew 'Andy' Warren Hatfield and Priscilla 'Pricy' Turner. Lucinda Thurman was daughter of Ephraim Thurman and Rosannah 'Rosie' Rogers. I have a few questions and problems with his family. I hope someone has the info I am needing. Lucinda Thurman b. June 27, 1818, Bledsoe Co, TN d. Bet. 1848 - 1850, Marion Co, Tn She married Henry Holloway Hatfield, Bet. 1839 - 1840, Marion Co, TN. She is 22 yrs of age and he, 17, when they married. In the 1840 census, only the two of them are listed. But we know that Hiram H. (Holloway) Hatfield was born Dec 1840. This would mean she was with child when the 1840 census was taken. This makes more sense that he was her first child and they married late 1839 or before March 1840. She is listed in the 1830 census with her parents. 1830 Census of Marion Co, TN Ephraim Thurman 121001/10101 1 Male under 5 yrs of age (Oliver Miller (3)) 2 Males 5 and under 10 yrs of age (Weslay (9) and Joseph C. Thurman (NB)) 1 Female 10 and under 15 yrs of age (Lucinda Thurman (12)) 1 Female 20 and under 30 yrs of age (Rosa Thurman (31)) ================================== She is listed with husband in the 1840 census. 1840 Census of Marion Co, TN Hatfield, Henry 0001/00001 1 Male 15 and under 20 yrs of age (Henry Hatfield (17)) 1 Female 20 and under 30 yrs of age (Lucinda Thurman Hatfield (22)) =============================== After daughter, Lucinda Hatfield was born in 1848, she must have died. She is NOT listed on the 1850 census. Does someone have a better death date for her and where she is buried? =========================== Henry Holloway Hatfield married again shortly after Lucinda's death to Nancy Brown (b. 1832, TN), abt 1850, Marion Co, TN. Does anyone know a better marriage date for them? Also who was Nancy Brown's parents? She and Henry are listed with the first 4 children's of Lucinda's and Henry and Nancy's first child, Obedience Caroline Hatfield. 1850 Census of Marion Co, TN Household and Family #199/199 Henry Hatfield 27 M Merchant 300 TN Nancy Hatfield 19 F Meth TN Hiram Hatfield 09 M TN James M. Hatfield 07 M TN Ephraim Hatfield 05 M TN Lucinda Hatfield 02 F TN Obedience Hatfield 6M F TN ============================= After this census, between 1855-1857, they moved on to Walker Co, GA, and continued to have more children. As we know, like other family members, Walker Co, GA was the place to go. I wonder if it was for the Land Lottery. Notice the last two were born in GA and the rest in TN. And of course, Lucinda's children are still with them. 1860 Census of Walker Co, GA, Upper Grove, Cedar Grove PO Household and Family #1421/1365 Henry Harfield 38 M Farmer 1000 400 TN Nancy Hatfield 28 F TN Hiram Hatfield 20 M TN Mattason Hatfield 17 M TN Ephraim A. After 1868, they moved to AL. I believe some of the info on this census is incorrect but I do believe that it is them. Notice the age and place of birth for some of the children. Not quite correct. Also all of Lucinda's children are on their own and not listed with them. Henry's daughter, Catherine Hatfield is not listed on this census. Did she marry or did she die? She would have been abt 15-17 yrs of age and could have married. The last two names listed are hard to read. They should be John S. and Murkey C. Hatfield. 1870 Census of De Kalb Co, AL, Township 7, Range 8, Lebanon PO Household and Family #6/6 H Hatfield 48 M W Farmer 3000 515 TN Nancy Hatfield 38 F W Keeping House TN Martha Hatfield 18 F W TN Caroline Hatfield 16 F W TN Mary Hatfield 14 F W TN (In School) Josephine Hatfield 12 F W TN (In School) Zaney Hatfield 10 F W GA (In School) Nancy Hatfield 08 F W GA (In School) J. C. Hatfield 06 M W GA (In School) Michey Hatfield 04 F W GA =============================== Now here is where is gets real good. Henry Holloway Hatfield died 4 yrs after the 1870 census, May 18, 1874. I am not sure if he was living in the above location or already had moved to ARK. Nancy is listed in the 1880 census in ARK with 3 of her children. The last child was added in ARK and is 7 yrs of age, born abt 1873, poss before Henry died. It states she was born in ARK so they must have been living in ARK in 1873 and was there when Henry died. Does someone know if he died in ARK? If so, where is he buried? I do not know who their daughters married so I cannot follow them any further. John S. Hatfield, who I think may have the middle name 'SUMMERFIELD' , is listed on this census but I cannot find him after this. And of course there is not an 1890 census to help us follow them. I cannot find Nancy after this either. I am hoping I can find someone to help me with the rest of this line. I also hope to find the answer to several of my questions on this family. Can anyone share who the daughters married and where they went? 1880 Census of Franklin Co, AR, Ivy Household and Family #87/96 Nancy HATFIELD Self W Female W 55 TN Keeping House VA NC John S. (Holloway) Hatfield, James Mattason Hatfield, Ephraim Andrew Hatfield and Lucinda Hatfield, please email me. I do have more info on them and willing to share what I have. Maybe we can help each other. Helen
