I received this idea from another list I belong to-- thought it was an interesting idea and has such value as well. ------ Telling stories is the very best way, I think, to preserve family history and traditions. Who is or was the story teller in your family? Have you written down those stories? Please do. They will be treasured by generations to come. And share them with us, too. Happy Holidays Betty
I am the story teller and the keeper of history in our family. So here is just one of many of the stories that are passed down - The Christmas Baby I am the oldest of five children. There are two boys between me and my sister with a bother after her.Every Christmas we went to my grandparents. This particular year we were sent early. Because we were to young to know what was going on we had no clue what we were getting for Christmas. My brothers and I were in the kitchen of my Aunt and Uncle's house waiting for Santa to come. The door to the living room was closed and we were waiting very impatiently. Suddenly there was a bumping noise in the living room and we knew that Santa had arrived. It took all my Aunt and Uncle had to keep the three of us from charging thru the door to see what he had brought. The thing that we did not reliaze was our parents were no where to be found. Suddenly they came in thru the back door and my dad stated he had seen Santa's sleigh leaving the yard. He did not have to tell us twice, three children bounded thru the door to be the first one to see what he had left. Much to our suprise he had left a large white basket with something in it. All three of us rushed to the basket and were left speechless. In this basket was a beautiful doll. But something was very strange about this doll. It blinked, and looked around, cried and moved. This doll was my little sister. My mom had given birth to her the last part of November and had saved her for us for Christmas. At the time I was to small to understand how special she was and how wonderfully I had been blessed by this treasure. It took my many years to really appreciate this child. She truly has been a continous Christmas gift in my life. She has always been there and loved my even when I was not loveable. She is truly the meaning of Christmas. She is selfless, kind, considerate, loving and beautiful. She is one of those who is an angel on earth. My parents could not have given me a greater gift or one that was so priceless. Her story is told every year when we get together. Sheila - this is my gift to you. I love you The oldest macbetty <[email protected]> wrote: I received this idea from another list I belong to-- thought it was an interesting idea and has such value as well. ------ Telling stories is the very best way, I think, to preserve family history and traditions.
