    3. I have not seen the survey I was just notified this morning of it's existence -- if it ask that kind of question , I will urge others to answer the same way you did . I have a rule of thumb -- If it is in my direct line then I prove it at least three ways-- if this is not possible then I put it down as hearsay or some one else's research--- My Father, bless his heart, taught me to do that , as he told our family history in such a colorful way that he convinced all of my sisters of the misinformation-- while his brother convinced his Granddaughter he was Indian-- My maiden name is Flanagan and the only other ancestry besides Irish, is German in me. -- I still can't convince my Sisters that Daddy lied to them to keep from us the fact his Grandmother forgot to get married. Even though I have proof of it. So I just laugh at the silliness I find on the internet about my family as some people get rather irate when I have tried to correct them on my direct line. Some of the things I have found on the paid services is pretty accurate though for the most part -- such as the census , social security records etc. so forth. thank you for letting me know about the questions Betty ----- Original Message ----- From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 14, 2005 11:30 AM Subject: Re: [TNMARION] survey | Betty, I got one of these surveys yesterday and filled it out. | | The problem is, some questions are unanswerable because of the way they were | stated. Too bad. | | Some questions should not have been asked.......such as income, etc. That | is none of their business and I checked "do not choose to answer" when I | wanted to shout...."None of your #[email protected]%#$ business!!" | | It still makes me angry that one has to pay [if one chooses] for information | that was given freely by people seeking their ancestors. The problem is | that a lot of that information is hearsay, therefore not credible. | I have seen a lot of misinformation about my family line on the internet and | when I have written, phoned, and tried to correct it, I have, in essence, | told by the person responsible for posting that misinformation, to 'butt | out'. That is wrong, and the main reason so much of the information | available is a hodge-podge of truth and outright lies. | | I willingly share my family information to those who ask, but I will never | post it online to be sold. | | ginny | | | ==== TNMARION Mailing List ==== | *********************************************************************** | PLEASE NOTE: This list is for queries and replies, comments, | requests for help, and other genealogical related information | that is of interest to researchers having a connection or a | possible connection to Marion County, Tennessee.
