11/22/1907 Mrs. Patience Smith Dunlap, TN, Nov 10, 1907, Mrs. Patience Smith, widow of the late Lafayette Smith, died this morning at 12:30 o'clock of burns received yesterday morning about 7:30 o'clock. She was cooking breakfast, but it was not known how her clothing caught. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Smith belonged to one of the most prominent families of the Valley, and her untimely death is a shock to a wide circle of friends. She was popular in church and social circles. Mrs. Smith was closely related to A. M. and George Deakins and the family of W. J. Humble of this city. Her death was a great shock to her relatives here, who did not know of the sad occurrence until the above appeared in Sunday's Chattanooga Times. She was the widow of the late George D. Smith instead of Lafayette Smith, as the Times correspondent incorrectly has it. Helen L.
