Hi List, I received from the TN Library and Archives copies of two land grants from the state of Tennessee to a Marion County ancestor G.W.T.Ladd. He applied for the first grant in November 1839 and the grant was made in March 1841. The Tennessee General Assembly on 9 January 1830 passed the provisions governing the granting of land. The above information all came from the land grant its self. Does any one know what the provision were governing the granting of land? Was it like the later homesteading acts in the west?
