I think you're onto something there about the employment Betty. I was looking at this draft reg. card and I know that in 1910 and 1920 they were living in Battle Creek, Marion Co. However, it says Grandpa Thompson was employed by J. W. Jones Sawmill in Bridgeport, Ala. He lists his home address and place of birth as Dove, TN. I guess it was just as easy for them to get to those courthouses as it was to Jasper. Perhaps it was because they were working in those areas too??????? Just guessing here -- does any one else have any opinions as to why they would go to Ga or Al instead of the courthouse in Tn?
