That reminds me it was suggested on another list , that instead of just writing for the social security number for some one deceased write and ask for the Social security application as it would go back one more generation--- Now I know nothing more about this , but it sounds feasible. I have done this in the past (gotten the actual application) and it gives parents names and some other details. However, the last time I checked, the fee to obtain these was pretty hefty. I want to say it was $20 or more for each one.
