3/26/1929 Mrs. Caroline Smith died Sunday last at her home on Battle Creek after a short illness. She was seventy odd years of age and a woman of great integrity and Christian principle. She was highly esteemed by all who know her, some of whom are now leading citizens of this city and knew her from their earliest childhood and had the greatest respect for her She was the wife of Mr. Thomas Smith, who is a brother of Mrs. Elias Smith, an aged and highly respected citizen of South Pittsburg. The funeral and interment was at Battle Creek Cemetery last Monday. A large crowd attended. I have Reuben Smith was married to a Sarah Hollingsworth. They had a Thomas Smith, born in 1840 in Marion Co, TN and Elmas Smith, born in 1843, Marion Co, TN. They could be the ones mentioned above. Helen L.
