    1. [TNMARION] Dykes Family
    2. Isham Dykes of Grandy Co, TN gave rise to the Dykes of Seqyatchie County. He died in Warren County on his return trip home from Bowling Green, KY, where he was attending a son who was wounded in the Civil War. John Dykes was in the Union Army when he was wounded. John had married prior to the War and had a son, Andrew Jackson Dykes, born in Grundy County on September 22, 1837. He married Mary Barker, who was born in Sequatchie County on March 15, 1837, the daughter of Howell Barker. Howell had come to East Tennessee from NC. Andrew moved to Whitwell in 1890, just after Mary died on Feb 1, 1889. They had three children: Elizabeth married N. T. Eagle of Sequatchie County; John J. and Elijah Dykes. Helen L. Smith Hoke (I chase dead people....and they are so far ahead of me, I'll never catch up. I think their hiding under rocks.)
