A miracle has happened! The explanation is long and I won't bore you all with it but suffice it to say that a huge 4" binder of my family 'archives' that I have looked for since March has resurfaced and is back in my possession. It had left our home unbeknownst to my daughter-in-law who carried it out in a box with other books. Along with many other important things in the binder were all of my Shropshire documents. Here is a bit of what I have on John P. Shropshire, my husband's 2nd great grandfather: John P. (possibly Preston) Shropshire, born in Marion Co., TN joined Company C, 6th Regiment Tennessee Mounted Infantry on Sept. 7, 1864 at Chattanooga. His enlistment papers say he was 18 years old, but my file says he was born in 1848. He was the s/o David and Delilah Burgess Shropshire. David was born in Madison Co., TN @ 1812. John P., known as 'Jack,' was 5'6" tall, had fair complexion, blue eyes and red hair according to his enlistment papers. He was mustered out on June 30, 1865 at Nashville. It would be much appreciated if I could make connections with other Shropshire and Burgess researchers. I wish I had been researching in 1974/75 when my husband and I lived in Nashville when he went to college there! Sharon Young Jebavy <>< ShaLamont@wideopenwest.com
