George Archibald BROWN was my grandfather's brother, was the s/o John Calvin BROWN and Mary M. MASSENGALE. John Calvin BROWN b. 1845 was s/o Archibald BROWN b. 1812 GA and it is he, that we think is the brother of Malinda BROWN who married David M. WHITE. I also think that he had a sister Hetta b. 1821 GA who married John HICKS in Marion Co, a brother William (Wesley)b. 1820 GA who married a Caroline--------- and there is possibly a sister Elizabeth b. 1805 Spartenburg SC who married Samuel GIDDINS in Knox Co TN. I may be wrong but I think this family orginated in or near Spartenburg SC , that perhaps the BROWN family moved to an unknown place in GA and then possibly returned to Spartenburg prior to Elizabeth and Malinda's marriage and at some point came to Marion Co prior to 1840. I believe the WHITES didn't come until a little later. We have not been able to prove this or to find out who the BROWN parents were. However, in all of these families we find similar names of children. In 1840 Archibald b. 1812 GA lived next door to Josiah M. ANDERSON in Dist 2 Marion Co and by 1850 they moved over to Dist 6 . We have been stuck on this for a long time so appreciating any help. I also appreciated the interesting stories of the Irish WHITES. Pat Hoffman
