    3. Donna, there's at least three versions. The one I like best is that the indian tribes had a big meeting in the Gizzard and were roasting some turkey's. The big chief got the choice of the first piece and he reached in and grabbed a gizzard. He took a big bite and it burned his mouth severely. He tossed it to the ground yelling "damn this fiery gizzard" He probaly didn't actually say damn - I'm sure he had a stronger work in mind at the time. This has also been told as happening to Davy Crockett and others.
