The following note appeared in the Nov. 27, 1898 Witwell paper: "An old resident of this section E. G. Hill died Jan. 16th and was buried at Victoria near where he had spent the most of his life, the following day." Ellis G. Hill, my greatgrandfather, born and raised just to the south in Bridgeport, Al was probably visiting one of his three children in Victoria: Joe H., Addie Hill Kilgore, or Calvin Dean when he died. His niece reported in a 1966 letter that he was buried in Lyons? Lane? Lines? cemetery. His first wife died in 1879 and his second probably before 1890. Does anyone know of this cemetery and does any one have a list of headstones there?
