Hi List, I would like to know if anyone know about the migration of coal miners from Marion County, Grundy County and Dade County. I have a half brother and sister who are Kilgore and I am trying to find out information on their father's family. Their father was Herbert Kilgore and his parents where Herbert Kilgore and Tenny Shrum. My brother states they where from Grundy County but I also found some grave site of Kilgores and Shrums on top of Lookout Mtn very near the old Durham Coal mine. Can anyone give me a history lesson on how these miners migrated. I know that Herbert Sr was a coal miners. Are Mine employee records available to view? Thanks Linda Sue

I would be very interested in hearing the replies to this post . PLEASE hit reply to all when you do post so we can all learn something. Our list does not have the automatic return to the list , as most list do. I think we miss out on a lot , thinking the other person-- whom ever that might be, has already told them, when actually no one has. My husband's sister was married to Roosevelt Kilgore . I don't know that much about the line though. If memory serves me correctly , they were from Whitwell area? Perhaps some one else can help out her. thanks Betty
