Shannon there were Coffelts in the Orme, Tn area in the late 1800's & early 1900's. There was a Dee Coffelt who had family in Comfort (aka Battlecreek area). There was also a David Coffelt from Comfort who frequented Orme. Look at the South Pittsburg Historical Society Website for a cemetary link as there are Coffelts there. You may also want to try Mnt Carmel Cemetary for it is right outside Orme in Bridgeport ALA. I also noticed some Coffelt's in the cemetary listing for Orme Top : George, L.L.A. Oma, & G.E. The MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) from all 5 of our circuit Churches plus Jasper and South Pittsburgh would meet together quarterly. There was a Kilgore man who John Ferrell shot either in the late 50s or early 60s. He was a real nice guy, and John was somewhat unbalanced. A case of just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I stopped at the Jasper drive in after a date one night, and John tried to pick a fight, I just laughed at him and kept walking. He did the same thing with someone else (now I am going to not rest until I remember who) who took exception, and John hit him in the face with brass nucks. John said that he had just got them, and wanted to try them out. The guy went to the hospital and John went to jail. It's a long story, but I'm trying to get as many pieces as I can to help me eliminate as much as match up. The children, Martha & Moses were living with William and Polly Lane -- they were not alone. The Lane family was on the last page of District 4, but the children are at the top of the next page which starts District 7. The children are the last 2 people listed for District 4. All of the other children were living in other households: Samuel, George, William, Charlotte & Mary. That's only 5 children, but there 8 total. We know that the baby, who was only a few weeks old, died shortly after their parents. This leaves me still with 2 children unaccounted for. I think they may be Martha & Moses, but they are living with the Lanes who have no connection to us. The other children were with other relatives, and this is how I've been able to verify they belong to our group of orphans. I was just hoping that since you're researching Moses, that you might know who the young boy (Moses) belonged to. Thanks anyway...
