    3. Dear Gladys, I am thankful for the service of your family members. I'd like to ask about Landon Carter. Do you know how/why that name was selected by your family? Landon Carter was a signer of the Watauga Petition and same name seems to pop up throughout TN as a first and middle name in families. Such as in mine: Landon Carter Reagan. I have not been able to tie the Landon Carter Watauga Signer into my REAGAN family. Landon Carter REAGAN born 1871 was the son of Erasmus Reagan and Nancy Amner Mize. They lived in Sweetwater, Monroe County, TN. 3. Also, I wanted to bring attention to these names of our veterans still with us and say "Thanks!" for all they have done for our country. I know the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day but I also believe we should say "Thanks" to our veterans whenever we have the chance. To all veterans: "Thanks! We Salute You!". Here are some of my relatives who are veterans and we are fortunate to still have with us: My Dad, James L. Nelson WWII Veteran Eighth Army 457 Bomb Group, 750 Squadron, Stationed Glatton, England. My uncles: Charles Nelson, Bill Nelson, Luther Nelson, George Nelson. My cousins: Jay Nelson, Jeff Nelson. Anyone have any veterans to add?

On Memorial Day, they place wreaths on graves of veterans buried overseas. You can join as a collateral relative; I joined under my uncle's name as he died without ever being married or having children. 1. [TNMARION] Claud McBee md. Lula Davis
    2. George/Kathy
    3. Hoping someone on the list might be able to provide some insight into the above mentioned marriage. My great aunt was Lula Davis b. abt 1906 in TN. She is the daughter of William I. Davis and Martha Jane Turner. I was looking for marriage info on Ancestry after Bill mentioned it on the list yesterday and found Claud McBee married Lula Davis on 14 Jan 1928 in Marion county. I was wondering if anyone might have them in their database and would care to share their info with me to see if they are part of my family. Thanks for any help, George Davis

    3. well betty maybe the following ad from 1831 might help you deside about the moonshining. FARM AND GOLD MINE FOR SALE. The subscriber offers to sell his farm, containing 88 acres, situated on the waters of Alston's creek, which empties into Green River. On said farm is a gold mine which as far as has been tested has proved to be rich and valuable. The same will be sold at private sale, for cash; and the purchaser may secure a bargain by examining and purchasing it. Also for sale, two new stills; one set of mill-stones.
