    3. Are you going to give any clues? What part of the county is this in? I only am familar with a small part of Marion and if it was from the Battle Creek area I would guess Ebeneezer at Smithtown. I think there's also one near Martin Springs that looks a little like that (or at least it used to.) As I recall no one seemed to know the complete story. There were two theories. One was that the wife so loved her deceased husband that she wanted him to be able to watch all his favorite TV shows. The other was that the wife thought that was all her husband did while alive and wasn't going to let him rest in peace. 2. Bill there isn't a cemetery next to the church I am thinking about though. Maybe that person really liked to watch TV that died. I have seen some pretty odd things in cemeteries across the country. Whew Bill I am sure glad some body else knows about it too but Bill and Dennis, Mac says when you were kids I-24 wasn't there :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: bill To: tnmarion@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2008 8:54 PM Subject: Re: [TNMARION] need help with a mystery Betty, Missed another of your posts but saw it in the archives. There is no exit at Martin Springs but the one that you have been calling the Martin Springs exit is at mile marker 143 (Zero is the Kentucky state line). Exit 143 is where the Chevron station is. There used to be a log home operation at that exit as well. May still be there - I don't know. All the businesses at the Kimball exit think they are at the 152 mile marker - at least their ads say so. So the church is about half way between the Kimball exit and the Chevron station. Has to be Ebenezer. 2. Do you mean the church at the Kelly's Cove Rd-- right on the frontage road before you go into Kelly's cove? that would be about 4 miles north of Kimball. ----- Original Message ----- From: bill To: tnmarion@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2008 8:45 PM Subject: Re: [TNMARION] need help with a mystery Exit 143 is the one where Ladds cove road now joins Hwy #2 and crosses the interstate. So the church in question is 5 miles south of this exit and 4 miles north of the Kimball exit. To me that is where Ebenezer is located. I think it was originally Cumberland Presbyterian but it seems like various Southern Baptist organizations used it last. Now if it is Ebenezer I have another mystery. This is something I remember and some say that I dreamed it. But as a child I remember a power line going into one of the graves in a little cemetery there. The grave also had a TV antenna on it. Does anybody else remember that or was it a childhood fantasy? I also note in the picture something that makes no sense to me as an old telephone man. The power pole has two insulators that go out several feet on the hot lines. From these lines it appears that two drops come down into the telephone cable splice box. I have never seen or heard of any such arrangement. 1. [TNMARION] need help with a mystery
    2. Misty has a mystery and she thought perhaps some of us could help her-- Iley has put the picture up at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tnmario2/ukchurmari.html It is of a church-- I thought at first glance it was the Primitive Baptist Church located in Swedens Cove, but at second glance that looks like buildings beside it-- To my knowledge that would eliminate that church. Any one have any ideas? Thanks Iley and Misty. Betty

    2. Through the emails, I learned for the first time that it was William W. Rhodes who died in 1930. He was buried in the Patton (Annex) cemetery, and the emails even showed me how to see his cemetery stone. But I don't know what church was involved. I was thinking there might be a church that owned that cemetery. Bill Mc suggested it was called The Chapel on the Hill. I have several small snapshots of a 1930 burial service outdoors on a ridgeline. I'll look at them closely to see if a church is visible. 2. Dennis's web site and organization is totally different than our web site and list. We too would love for you to share with us. I want to bring up here, that not every one is getting all of their mail in the order it is sent. I personally have no idea how to fix this-- I have asked the help desk several times, with no reply from them. Bill is one of those and has to check the archives ( which list the address of the archives on the web page) to see what he is missing. If any one has any suggestions to solve this please let me know. thanks Betty ----- Original Message ----- From: dennylambert@bellsouth.net To: tnmarion@rootsweb.com Cc: Millhiser Carolyn ; Hookey Robert Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2008 4:56 PM Subject: Re: [TNMARION] Cemetery Where is? Frank, The church building still exist beside the cemetery. It was originally known as the Primitive Baptist Church and today is maintained by the South Pittsburg Historic Preservation Society who was responsible for its restoration. The history of the church/building can be seen through the attached link as well as an inventory of local cemeteries located on other pages of the website: http://www.historicsouthpittsburgtn.org/Chapel.html Our organization would love to see and maybe obtain copies any photos you have of the funeral service and maybe use a few on our web site if you would care to share them. 3. I think they are restoring it according to the website - but as a historical site not an actual functioning church. At least that was my interpretation on what the site said. That may be wrong too.
