Greetings. I need to add my own request to the list. Does anyone have a listing of the 1960 Census for Marion County? Need to see if there are Crawfords listed, specifically a William Thomas Crawford. One of my Crawford clan, Mary Elizabeth Crawford was born on March 26, 1861, in either Polk County or Marion County. Knowing if papa William was listed in the 1860 census would tell me if Mary was born in Marion County or not. I also have a Enos Christman Crawford born February 11, 1863 in Marion Co and a Thomas Grant Crawford born there in 1866. My Crawford line moved on to Polk County, Texas in 1867. Also, does anyone have any Crawford contacts with Marion County? Cheers and Thanks, Noel Noel C. Greetings to all from your new list administrator. I want to personally welcome all of the new subscribers that have joined the list in the past week. During this time, the list has grown from 25 to 50. Not bad for a start. To those of you that were already members of the list, I and WE are glad to join you. I was asked if I would start a list for Marion County, but since there was already one going, and it had no administrator, I was assigned to it as the administrator by Roots Web. Let the rest of us know who you are looking for and what resources you have. The way to make the list expand and to keep everyone informed on what you are doing, let the list know what your progress is, who you are looking for, who you have found, what your walls are, and even what your computer or internet questions are. There hopefully will be someone that can answer your questions and help you overcome that wall. Who knows, you might even find a few LIVE new kin for once. I tend to run a loose mail list. As long as the messages relate to what we are doing or how to do something that we are interested in, it usually is ok. No slams. No personal attacks. Nothing that is really not related to the subject area. Cheers to all. Let's keep the interest going on this list. So, let us hear from all of you. Cheers, Noel Noel C. Hello, I am new to the list, and I was wondering if anyone had connections with the surname of Chisum and Llewallen. I am looking for the marriage date of William (Bill) Chisum and a Mary (Artimes) Llewallen. If anyone has access to the marriages could you please see if you have them listed in or about 1847-1847. I am also trying to find the parents of William and Mary. They came to Ark. Pope county, in or around 1849. I will gladly share the info I have on my line, thanks Vickie

As Ruben wasn't born until 1825, does anyone know which one of these men was his father? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Laura Lynn dixiegirl@mindspring.com

Two researchers following two almost identical John CUNNINGHAMs that arrived in TN ca. 1820. They are seeking assistance in documenting whether or not the two individuals in question or one in the same. Herb Cunningham (herbc@ionet.net): Has long had an impasse as to tracking down a great-great-grandfather, John CUNNINGHAM. He and his entire family arrived in Marion Co., TN in ca. 1822 from an unknown location. No researcher is known to have ever determined the origin of this family prior to their arrival in Marion Co. The STEELE genealogy collection found in the Oklahoma Historical Society Archives has been found to contain detailed information on this John CUNNINGHAM and his family. This collection identifies John CUNNINGHAM, his wife as Jane Ellie (HENDERSON) CUNNINGHAM and their children. It includes specific information concerning dates of birth, marriage, and death with a principle referenced source as a CUNNINGHAM family bible in the possession of a BELEW family. The date of birth for John CUNNINGHAM is listed as July 8, 1784. John CUNNINGHAM 1784 - 1842 +Jane Ellie HENDERSON 1779 1868 Children: Elizabeth Elis CUNNINGHAM 1802 - 1848 +Wm. McMURRY Riley Alexander CUNNINGHAM 1805 - 1829 Amy (or Anni, Angy) Homes CUNNINGHAM 1807 - +James M. KELLY John Davidson CUNNINGHAM 1810 - 1892 +Elizabeth McCLUSKEY 1814 - 1897 Pleasant Henderson CUNNINGHAM 1813 - +Virginia Ann McMURRY 1813 - 1883 Rachel Montgomery CUNNINGHAM 1816 - 1894 +Johnethon McMURRY 1815 - 1851 Unity Hollie CUNNINGHAM 1819 - 1894 This John CUNNINGHAM loved to give his children surnames as their middle given names. These names included HENDERSON (the maiden name of his wife), DAVIDSON, ALEXANDER, MONTGOMERY, and HOMES. Charles E. Carroll (dixie2@sat.net): He is attempting to find a John CUNNINGHAM, a lost sibling of one of his ancestors, that left NC to go to TN in ca. 1820. The genealogical information for his John CUNNINGHAM included the following: John CUNNINGHAM, Sr., born about 1755 in Rowan Co., NC; md 28 Feb 1782 in Camden District, SC; d. 6 March 1783 + Ann ALEXANDER (daughter of John ALEXANDER and Rachel DAVIDSON) Child: John CUNNINGHAM, Jr. born 8 July 1783 John CUNNINGHAM, Sr. had the following siblings: George, James, Rhoda, Mary Magdalene, Sarah Jane, Catherine, and Margaret. They were the children of Humphrey and Rhoda (SIMERAL) CUNNINGHAM. James CUNNINGHAM died in 1808 in Anderson Co., TN. George CUNNINGHAM came to TN with his family, mother, and relatives. George ultimately returned to Macon Co., NC. The brothers, George, John and James CUNNINGHAM, served together in the Revolutionary War. John CUNNINGHAM, Sr. was killed during the Battle of Kings Mountain. Comparison: The day and month for the date of birth are the same for the two John CUNNINGHAMs and the year of birth is exactly one year difference. The mother of the second John is named ALEXANDER and her mother's maiden name of DAVIDSON. These names, along with the use of his wifes maiden name of HENDERSON, would explain three of the surnames used by the first John CUNNINGHAM if the two individuals are in fact one and the same. The second John Cunningham reported to have lived near Henderson Co., NC where many Henderson's lived. A John CUNNINGHAM is found living in adjacent Haywood Co., per the 1810 and 1820 NC census but no longer lived there as of the 1830 census. That family had very close demographics to the first John CUNNINGHAM family. The only significance difference between these two parallel John CUNNINGHAM's is the one year for date of birth and their possible wives. Charles E. Carroll states that his John CUNNINGHAM was reportedly married a woman named Ann DAVIS but cannot find any record of such a marriage. Herb Cunningham has an undocumented record that his John CUNNINGHAM was married to Jane Ellie HENDERSON. Herb Cunningham herbc@ionet.net

I am looking for info on my gggrandparents Leonnie Brown Powell and Nepoleon Powell. I never knew Nepoleon, and barely remember Grandma Leonnie. Leonnie later married Charlie Powell, after Nepoleon died. If anyone has any info on any of the above people, please contact me. Thank you, Laura Lynn dixiegirl@prodigy.net
Dear List, I am begging for a marriage record. The one I seek is about 1820, prob. TN. I have no idea where. John Johnson married (Lovie) Loveth Louisa (OR) Louisa Loveth Pullen/Pullin/Pullan/Pullman/Pullian. Those are just about all the spellings I have collected on her during the last four decades. Even in her father's will, the last name is spelled different ways. I do believe they married in Tennessee, but it might also be NC or AL. Will appreciate any and all help. This is a tough one, and I thank one and all.. Regards, Judy
