    1. [TNMARION] Help again
    2. Billy Hill
    3. Noel, thanks for your reply but: I continue sending this message but it continues to miss an appearance in the Marion County list. Also, after several months of reception, I no longer get other messages from this group. I must be doing something wrong. Billy Hill denmanh@flash.net Humor in a serious search. The following note appeared in the Nov. 27, 1898 Witwell paper: "An old resident of this section E. G. Hill died Jan. 16th and was buried at Victoria near where he had spent the most of his life, the following day." Ellis G. Hill, my greatgrandfather, born and raised just to the south in Bridgeport, Al was probably visiting one of his three children in Victoria: Joe H., Addie Hill Kilgore, or Calvin Dean when he died. His niece reported in a 1966 letter that he was buried in Lyons? Lane? Lines? cemetery. His first wife died in 1879 and his second probably before 1890. Does anyone know of this cemetery and does any one have a list of headstones there? Joe married Maggie Hatfield from nearby Dunlap while Cal married Ada Kilgore from Victoria Billy Hill denmanh@flash.net

    2. Edward Smith
    3. Gas Out ! -------- Original Message -------- Anytime we can stick it to the man it's a good day. Last year on April 30,1999, a gas out was staged across Canada and the U.S. to bring the price of gas down, and it worked. It's time to do something about it again. Only this time lets make it for three days instead of just one. The so-called oil cartel decided to slow production to drive up gasoline prices. Lets see how many Canadian\American people we can get to ban together for a three day period in April, NOT TO BUY ANY GASOLINE, during those three days. LETS HAVE A GAS OUT. Do not buy any gasoline from APRIL 7, 2000, THROUGH APRIL 9, 2000. Buy what you need before the dates listed above, or after, but try not to buy any during the GAS OUT. If you want to help, just send this to everyone you know and ask them to do the same. We brought the prices down once before, and we can do it again. Come on North America lets stand together. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!. Even if you receive this 100 times keep passing it around, this way you know everyone is being informed and no one will forget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. [TNMARION] Land Grants
    2. James Duncan
    3. Hi List, I received from the TN Library and Archives copies of two land grants from the state of Tennessee to a Marion County ancestor G.W.T.Ladd. He applied for the first grant in November 1839 and the grant was made in March 1841. The Tennessee General Assembly on 9 January 1830 passed the provisions governing the granting of land. The above information all came from the land grant its self. Does any one know what the provision were governing the granting of land? Was it like the later homesteading acts in the west? Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated. Jim Duncan in AZ
