For your information: To the List: If you have Tennessee roots you will be interested in a new publication titled "The Reconstructed 1810 Census of Tennessee." To be published in June, this 600-page volume will include more than 30,000 records of citizens of Tennessee in 1810. Since nearly all of the original census was destroyed many years ago, this reconstructed census will be an invaluable research tool. The work is based on names extracted from tax lists, court minutes, church records, wills, deeds and other sources dated 1809-1811 in Tennessee. The author made this extensive effort to track every adult male in Tennessee. In addition many entries for women, children, free blacks and slaves were also located. The book was complied by Charles A. Sherrill, a well-known Tennessee genealogist, librarian and lecturer. His earlier works include "Tennesseans in Court" and "Tennessee Convicts." For a sample page of text and ordering information, contact Charles A. Sherrill at this e-mail address: books4histry@cs.com Noel
Looking for information on a woman named Mary Catherine TROY b. July 20, 1860 poss. in Ireland d. March 21, 1916 who married Josiah Conn MCBEE about 1882 -88 and lived in the Marion and Franklin Co., Tn area. Her father's name according to death cert. was Patrick TROY and mother was a McBRIDE. Family oral history says she was an only child but had 1/2 brothers back in Ireland. Wouldn't it be a little unusual for a woman to have come all the way to TN from Ireland under the age of 23 without another family member? Sincerely, Jean P. McBee
Glen, Sue's son just e-mailed me and said that Sue had a laptop now. Bet she is on line doing genealogy. She has two e-mail addresses sueforrester@hotmail.com and deerrun@mindspring.com Bet most of you have these hut incase you don't you can now send her messages directly. Paul
Some one asked me about an address for Sue. It is 209 Longbranch Rd. Cloudland, GA 30731 As of this morning she had not gotten out of bed but expected to today. All messages to her, whether addressed to me or to the Lists have been forwarded to her son Glen. He will copy them and take them to her. Will continue to do this until she is home and able to check for herself. Paul R.L. Vance
Gosh Guys, I have gotten a ton of e-mail for her from you all. I don't believe Steve does much with the e-mail so I am forwarding all of the messages to him plus copying them and sending them via the mail to Sue. Paul
It makes me very sad to inform you all that Sue's operation to day at Hutcheson Memorial Hospital showed that she had inoperable cancer. Steve and family are waiting for a verdict from the Dr. as to whether chemotherapy is an option. More surgery is not. Sue has been a good friend and a helper for many of us and I am sure you are all as heart broken as I am. I talked to Sue briefly on the telephone, and characteristic of her, she asked how I was progressing. She and Steve are not even close to quitting fighting and neither should we be.. This is the saddest e-mail I have ever had to write. Paul R.L.Vance

Linda You ask for info on any "Murphys" so here is what I have. My great-great grandfather, Bennett Murphy, showed up on the US Census in Marion Co TN in 1840 & 1850. In 1850 he was listed with his wife Lucinda, b. TN and his children, Euel D. b. 1837 TN, Sarah b. 1838 TN, William (my g-grandfather) b. 5 Jan 1841 and Caroline b. 1845. He was the son of John Murphy and Katie Bates and I believe he was born in Bedford Co, VA because this is where John and Katie were married. In Marion Co TN Deed Book D, page 392 Bennet M. Murphy was the highest bidder on 160 acres of land. (4 Sep 1840). The property was registered 20 Jan 1841. Bennet sold the same property to William Drewen on 5 Sep 1840, pg 393/394. It was registered on 21 Jan 1841. The only other thing I could find on Bennet (so far) in TN was a Deed of Trust, 5 Jun 1848, Deed Book E, pg 292 from Bennet to Jonathan Lasater to pay a debt of $28.00. If you have any questions please contact me. Mildred Aiello
