    2. Hello Phoebe: Battle Creek is where my family is all from. It's near So. Pittsburg TN. I don't think you'll find it on any maps. If you're looking at census records, most of the time people in Battle Creek were listed in one of the Jasper Civil Districts. I've found most of my family is Civil Districts No. 9 and 10. If you look on a map, the Franklin Co. line is just west of So. Pittsburg. One other note: it's not unusual to find family from that area of Marion Co. were counted in Dade Co., Ga or Jackson Co., Ala. at one time or another. It just depends on the year. Hope this helps.... 3. Phoebe , yes Parts of the Battle Creek drainage is close to the Franklin county line. I believe it also is included the area where at time Franklin and Marion County was not really sure which county they lived in until the tax man came around, as they kept changing them so much. Now that is a very broad statement and not to be taken for the gospel but only as literal point. Am interested in your Lemons connection to the Smiths? We have a Malinda McBee ( daughter of Robert McBee and Susan Barnes McBee) that married a Sargent and had three children , two of which are girls, that married Smiths. Malinda went on to marry a Lemons fellow after that. Part of the McBee's ( Malinda's brother's family Arnold McBee and Ivey Pelham) moved on to Mo. but I believe that was a little latter in time. 2. I know lots on his father, Gulielmus Smith and his siblings, but Edmound Smith, the one who went to SC, I have tracked him somewhat but I have not spent too much time on him. At first I thought he was my great-grandfather so I researched him some. Then I found out Ransom was and I have been working on him ever since. I saw Moses Smith in a lot of my papers. I just know he is related to Ransom some how and I think I have the answer in my file that I just copied from Marion CO, TN. I just have not had time to go thru it and study it yet. I am trying to get everything together for trips and also working on things for the Marion CO site. Keep your fingers crossed. I may have the answer but don't know it. I thought that Battle Creek was in Marion Co. I am just now learning about Marion Co, TN. If you need anything that I have, I am willing to share but it is a large file, let me warn you. Many years of searching. Helen L. 2. Phoebe Lemons
    3. To Helen Hoke: Thanks for all your info you are sending our way. Now I have another question for you. Do you know the names of any of the siblings of your Ransom. And do you know the name of the one he mentions in his Rev. War pension application that was in So.Car. And do you know where in So. Car. Then, in the 1830 census of Marion Co. are two or three Moses Smith. Do you have any info on them. Are they connected at all to Ransom Smith' father. Then there is a William Smith in the 1850 census in Marion Co the wife is Lourana (sp?) and she was Lourana Jones. Do you have any information on them. They are here in Webster Co. Mo. in the 1860 census. And then where were these Smiths in relation to Battle Creek. And is Battle Creek close to the Franklin Co. line.
