    1. [TNMARION] New Museum location
    2. macbetty
    3. I received this information, along with some pictures, from a lady that is not subscribed to our list. I thought in light of all of the summer vacations about to be embarked on or undertaken, that this information could be very useful . Bridgeport is just across the line from Richard City or South Pittsburg . Does any one have any information on the Devils Punch bowl in Richard City, Tn. that was located above the cement plant? I understand the rock quarry destroyed it with the blasting? Betty Karen wrote ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The Bridgeport Train Depot Museum located in downtown Bridgeport Alabama open Friday/Saturday 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m. call for additional hours 495-4020, leave message if necessary Admission is free!!! I work there and we have alot of great old pictures-dating back to the late 1800's, old store ledgers, genealogy papers, and antique articles. A great place to go. We have original documents dating back to 1826. Some of the names in our files are Glover, Jones, Gunter, Kirkpatrick, and Kilpatrick, just to name a very few. We have hundreds of surnames with original documents in every folder. We're just getting started and need the advertisement. Thanks, Karen Hambrick " If you drop by please tell Karen thanks for sharing.

    3. This Catherine is my ancestor, an aunt. Her parents were John Smith and Rebecca Thomas. Is there anyone out there on this list interested in her family. I would like to hear from you. John Smith is found in 1850 in Alabama. In 1870 the family is in Marion County; John and Rebecca are buried at Red Hill Cemetery in Whitwell. I would give anything to firmly know who his parents are and where they were from. wanda casker Subject: [TNMARION] LAST WILL AND TESTMENT OF CATHERINE SMITH > This one is typed and not in her own handwriting. > > LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF CATHERINE SMITH > I, Catherine Smith, of Marion County, Tennessee, do make and publish this my > Last Will and Testament; hereby revoking all other Wills by me at any time > made. > > FIRST-I direct that all my just debts be paid out of my estate, by my > executor. > > SECOND-I give, devise, will and bequeath, unto my sister, Mary Smith and my > two brothers, L. 2. macbetty
    3. Noel, Bill and I would like to ask you from now on, anyone that wants to send pictures etc needs to send them individually and not as a zipped file. Different zip programs work differently and unless you have the same one on your computer, they often don't work. Pictures need to be sent individually as jpg or gif . Also we are unable to add the tombstone pictures to the list right now. Due to the copyright law, we can not put any obituaries on that site, that were not earlier than 1920. You may however post them to the list, in hopes they will help some one. Thank you so much for your help and corporation. We certainly do appreciate all that has been contributed so far and are still trying to get all of the information added on. thank you . Betty

    2. Thank you for the Obit on J.M. MASSENGALE. I beleive this to be James Madison MASSENGALE b. Dec 1840 and married 23 Sept 1859 Hamilton Co TN Malinda Jane DOUGHERTY. He served in the Confederacy. I beleive that he lived with his grandmother widow Sarah MASSENGALE in 1850 Marion Co and I am not sure who his parents were, there is speculation that he could be s/o Joseph F. MASSENGALE and wife Mary "Polly" (maiden name unknown). I have some information on the children of J.M. MASSENGALE . Dave m. (1) Lila WHITAKER (2) Alice PIPPIN, John Sephas m. 1. [TNMARION] Mrs. Patience Smith Obit
    2. 11/22/1907 Mrs. Patience Smith Dunlap, TN, Nov 10, 1907, Mrs. Patience Smith, widow of the late Lafayette Smith, died this morning at 12:30 o'clock of burns received yesterday morning about 7:30 o'clock. She was cooking breakfast, but it was not known how her clothing caught. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Smith belonged to one of the most prominent families of the Valley, and her untimely death is a shock to a wide circle of friends. She was popular in church and social circles. Mrs. Smith was closely related to A. M. and George Deakins and the family of W. J. Humble of this city. Her death was a great shock to her relatives here, who did not know of the sad occurrence until the above appeared in Sunday's Chattanooga Times. She was the widow of the late George D. Smith instead of Lafayette Smith, as the Times correspondent incorrectly has it. Helen L.
