    1. Questions about Saw Mills in the Whitwell area
    2. I have a relative that in the 1930 census he is listed as a laborer in the Saw Mill. He is living in Dist 1, Whitwell City. Does anyone know where the Saw Mills were located? Is there a map showing of them? Has anyone studied them and know about them? He was a farmer in the 1910-1920 census but a laborer in the saw mill in 1930. When did the saw mills come to be in the Whitwell area? James 'Jim' Arthur Smith was born November 09, 1880 and married Nancy Alice Unknown abt 1908, Marion Co, TN. Does any one know who Nancy Alice was? She was born 1878 and died 1940. I also would like to know where they are buried. Helen

    1. Re: [TNMARION] Maps
    2. One important note about the census district map. The district 13 which we discussed the other day moved around some over the years. In some of the earlier years it apparently covered the Running Water/Whiteside/Haletown area. In later years, it became the Richard City area. 3. Hello everyone! regarding naming children with family names, I've found that u can use the family name as a second or third name and the first name given is one the child will like and use. Or use a nickname thats nice and refers to a family name. My daughter did that with my 3 grandsons (they're 13, 16, 19 this year) and actually seem to be proud of their family names. Hope this finds everyone well & happy bye for now & God Bless Carol Sacramento, CA One Nation Under God like it or lump it
