My ancestor is Samuel Thompson b. 1835 in Marion Co. His father was the William that you mentioned on the 1840 Marion Co. census. I've never been able to tie Ausburn, Moses or the others to our line, but then I don't know much about William Thompson before 1840. I have been in contact with a descendant of Burwell Thompson who was a Revolutionary War soldier. Their family originated in Franklin Co. and there were several brothers. We believe from notes that my Samuel is the grandson of Stephen Thompson, Burwell's brother. It's possible that Ausburn and some of the others came from Franklin Co., TN into Marion Co. TN and then moved into Arkansas. You might want to start digging in Franklin Co., TN before 1840. You might just find a connection like I did. Hope this helps!

Ark. from 1860 until the 1900's. Before they came to Arkansas they lived in Marion CO. Tn. in 1850. Living next to Elsick Thompson in 1860 in Franklin CO. ARk. is a William Thompson and a Permelia Maxfield Thompson with children Sarah E. , D. Frank, I believe this William is a brother to Elsick they list there birth places as Tennessee on some censuses and Georgia on others. Then in 1880 in Franklin Co. Ark. I find a Isaac Thompson and Nancy ( ? Burns) had children named Lydia, Mary, George, William, Green, Sarah, Martha, Osborn and Dawson. this family has birth places of Tn. Nc, and Ga. I went to the 1840 Marion Co. Tennesse census I traced all Thompsons the names as heads of household appear to be Ausburn, Moses, Charlotte, Hampton, William, and Ann. The only two that have a son born in 1826 would be either Moses or Ausbern. Now looking in the Ancestry and Rootsweb databases I find that Ausbern married a Abigail Wilson and had children Ausburn, William, Alexander, Mire, Nancy, Sarah and tennesse ( tempie). Three of these sons died in Ark. no further info. Now since our Elsick had children named Tennessee, Abigail and a son William this appears to be on the right track. Can anyone help figure this mess out.

Thanks Euline, but, I'm afraid it isn't the Maude I'm searching; the age is the same but the name isn't exactly the same. But I'll bet there may a connection of the Rogers family someway, could be a first cousin of Maude Paris. Family names sure do get passed around & on down throu the generations.
