    1. goodbye summer and welcome fall!!
    2. macbetty
    3. Summer is almost over -at least by the calendar--- It has been long and hot, but now that fall is in the air, I would think it is time we all buckle down and get back to work on our genealogy-- what do you say? This is the time of year to get out and get our footwork done that needs to get done , so we can settle in for the cold dark days of winter that are ahead of us. So we can sit back and compile and organize our work.--- yours truly here has yet to ever get organized though LOL Does any one have any ideas or suggestions for those of us that need to be stirred up and get our enthusiasm going again? --- Now I have heard about two different ( unrelated) DNA projects going on that both sound pretty exciting. Would any one like to share the details of these projects and especially how to get them started-------------------------- I also have heard of a few visitors that shared information with relatives over the summer---- wonder if any one has had any major brick walls broken down ? If you have any ideas to get us all back up and enthusiastically digging-- please share with us too. Our web site might need a bit of sprucing up too-- any suggestions? Thank you Betty

He has been identified as having either been born on 08 July 1783 or 08 July 1784. Am most interested in the John Cunningham listed by the subject query. Would be most interested in exchanging information to see if it is possible to track down this most illusive individual named John Cunningham. Herb Cunningham [email protected]

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Stone, Cunningham, McCrary Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/yhB.2ACI/117.2 Message Board Post: Perhaps a side line - my grandfather was John Cunningham Stone - born in Sullivan Cty. Tenn. July 3 1875. Parents were Sam and Elizabeth McCrary Stone. Family migrated to New Orleans around 1900 and then most of them went back to Pulaski in the 20s. Are you aware of any connection to Stones or Mccrarys. We have always wondered where the "John Cunningham" came from and there is no longer anyone who can tell us....

    3. I received this note about our own Dr John Simpson from his daughter last evening. I have received permission from her to let all of you know. -- For you new comers to the list Dr John was born in Jasper, Some of his stories are posted on our web site of his early memories . I am sure he would love to hear from any of us. -- such a nice man and so sharp for his age as well. --------------------------------------- Mary Carolyn wrote.................................................................... Hello Friends and family: I wanted to update everyone about Daddy's health/situation. I have arranged to move him tomorrow to Bishop Spencer Place, 4301 Madison Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri, 64111. He will continue to be on a Medicare Skilled unit, but due to his confusion , weakness, and very frail condition, I suspect that this will end up being a long term placement. The facility is a wonderful one, and I know he will be as comfortable as one can be in a nursing home. I know he wants to make it to 100, and I am confident that he has a very good chance of doing so at Bishop Spencer! Feel free to email me with comments or questions ( [email protected] ), and I know he would love mail, too. (He commented today that he knows he is very late acknowledging the good wishes he received when he was recuperating from his broken arm). Regards, Mary Caroyn

    3. I received this from a dear friend and fellow genealogist and she asked me to pass it on to all of you --- Betty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nelda Percival" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 08, 2005 4:57 PM Subject: note | Hi Betty, | First we have started a mailing list at google for: | | We all know what a chore it is to find answers, locate records. Have you | thought about all of the genealogists in the path of Katrina that fled | their homes, leaving their | computers and their data behind? Not today, but someday, they will be in a | position to return to their genealogy, and have no idea where to start. A | group has just been started to help. Please join! | Katrina Genealogists | Helping those who lost their data in the storm | http://groups.google.com/group/Katrina-Genealogists | | that link takes you to the mailing list site. | | ************************************* | next: | | GILPIN Family researchers have been gathering information and compiling | their genealogies diligently for years. You may be among the few who are | able to trace your earliest ancestor back to England, or Ireland. Or, like | most you may be searching to find that illusive, missing link to the past. | | As a GILPIN Family researcher you have probably reached a point where you | cannot identify any earlier ancestors. You may have documented multiple | generations, but, at some point the leads dwindle and the trail grows cold. | You have reached the preverbal "brick wall." We know that more documentary | evidence remains to be discovered however traditional genealogical research | will most likely never find all the connections between the various GILPIN | Family groups. Until recently there was little hope of extending a cold | chart, however, genealogical DNA testing may provide the answers you are | seeking. | | So, whether you have a complete family history leading back to the GILPIN | Family in England or you are just starting to chart your ancestors, we hope | you will consider joining us. Please click on the links to explore our site | and read our objectives. Also, remember to check back often, as we will be | updating this site as the project grows. | | website: http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~bonsteinandgilpin/ | | | thanks Betty | n. | | | |
