I have a copy of a letter from an Elmus Smith descendent during the 1930s to a Thomas Smith descendent. I will try to find it for you. I would like to swap Smith information with you. I descend from Ransom through his son Anderson and grandson Abbot Smith.
From Bill's side I'd start with Obadiah McBee and Rev Samuel McBee just to find out which line they come from and if they are father and son. Then on his mom's side I guess his great great grandmother and GGGrandfather Werlitz to find out why they left Germany and no one else in that family did. I'd also have to invite my father and grandfather so I could see them meet. To satisfy my mother I'd also have to invite my father's grandfather and find out where in Ireland they came from. And from my father's maternal side his mother and her brothers. Oh then there is my mother's mother since I never met her and she must have been a saint to put up with my grandfather and my mother. My real table will have 12 people so I guess that would be a very large crowd if all the ghosts showed up too! Jean
There are 2 volumes of Pankey books written byGeorge Edward Pankey. Your local library may have them. They are very good and tell a lot about this family. Euline
Before you grab your suitcases and head out the door, or open your door to a house full of company Mac and I want to wish each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving -- We all certainly have a lot to be thankful this year, don't we. I am sure Bill and his family as well as Iley and his family join us in wishing each of you a blessed thanksgiving too. Don't forget to keep your paper and pen handy to jot down note worthy items about each of your guests, to save for future generations too -- wouldn't we all have loved to find something like that, our ancestors had jotted down for each of us too. Happy Thanksgiving Betty and Frank McBee
I am looking for the wills of Stephen Pankey (1743-1825) and/or his wife Mary Ann Smith-Pankey (1745-1825). They both died in Marion County, Tennessee. Stephen was the son of Jean Pierre Panetier (John Peter Pankey) and Mary Ann Smith was the daughter of James and Caroline Matilda-Smith. Any information regarding where they are buried would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kelli
Jerre Hookey shared a picture of Marion County Memorial Bridge and while Bills hands are tied up with some home projects, Iley was kind enough to add it for us. So take a peak at this new picture and thanks both Jerre and Iley. Betty PS in case you don't have our web site booked marked the address should appear at the bottom of this email
Delbert they would probably do like the ones living even now do and just tell you what they wanted you to know or record for prosperity-- They consider the off color tainted information none of our future generations business--- They forget that no matter what our past is our past, as well as each off colored square just makes us who we are today. :-) Betty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Delbert & Patricia Ladd" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 15, 2005 5:48 PM Subject: [TNMARION] Thanksgiving Dinner Guests | First would be Oliver Cromwell. I think I would ask my grandmother Jennie Flanders Crosthwait and ask her forgiveness for not paying closer attention when she tried so hard to get me interested in family history. Next I would ask my mother-in-law Hattie Owens Bynum why she never told us about the interesting family she had. (maybe she didn't think those things were interesting), next I'd ask her where in the world I could find her maternal grandparents I think they must have just dropped from the earth. ---- Original Message ---- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [TNMARION] thanksgiving dinner Date: Tue, 15 Nov 2005 11:13:27 -0700 >you know, I was thinking, wouldn't our ancestors be impressed >and pleased that we go to all of this trouble to find out >about them? I believe everyone wants to be remembered, and what a blessing for someone to go to such lengths to find out about me. We should all take heed and leave a small, short diary for future generations. Wouldn't we love to find something like that. I felt my gggrandfather's presence at his home there Jackson County, Alabama when I went there, took pics and then did a pen and ink of it. So many family members were delighted to have copies of the drawing. This past weekend, I went home and found my father's diary he kept during WWII while he was aboard the USS Hershey, he wasn't supposed to keep one, would have been court martialed for it, however, he thought he was going to die during that episode, they were constantly stating that they had burned the carriers in that area dn the Japanese were really after Daddy's ship. For about 7 weeks, Daddy wrote everyday, he read so many chapters of the bible, mentioned the food, etc., how much he adored my Mother and on November 16, he noted that his baby (me) would be 2 years old. Now, 61 years later I have the diary in my possession. I can barely wait to let my son read it. This is lengthy, but from Daddy's little diary, he wanted us to know of his love, and he did not want to be forgotten. He wanted a little something left written by him. I agree with you both and I think we all need to keep in mind that no matter what we find out, we need to remember we didn't walk in their shoes and live like they did at the time in their lives -- what they did or didn't do is not our business to judge them -- just to love them for all of our wonderful colorful history.
